Rubber hose behind jack?

I was familiarizing myself with the jack on my new ORP this weekend. There is a black rubber hose behind the lower portion of the jack tool bag. Anyone know what that is? Possibly a drain for the moonroof? Also, I can’t see any of the moonroof drains? There should be 4, 1 for each corner. I’m guessing they don’t protrude below chassis to prevent them getting clogged.

 

I haven't paid attention to that hose but are you sure it isn't a wiring harness?

I know there's 2 drain tubes that run down to the kick panel area in the structure of the body. I'm not sure where the rears drain to.

 

It felt like soft , flexible rubber. Are the roof drains visible from under vehicle?

 

I haven’t looked for them underneath but this is the passenger side interior section. I’ve had water issues so I was checking everything.

 

Possibly the windshield wiper fluid hose for rear wiper?

 

Yes, that roof drain tube is smaller diameter and clear. The rubber hose behind the jack is about 1/2” diameter and black rubber. I guess you could always pour water in the roof drain from the top and see where the water hits the ground to locate drain tube location

 

It's the drain. The 4th gen I had, it was clear. On my '20, it's black.

 

From the diagrams I see online the rear wiper fluid is routed on the passenger side so guessing I'm wrong

 

I can believe it’s the roof drain but it sure is larger diameter than the clear tube in pic above on passenger front side. Maybe they expect the rear drains to have more water if water gets in the moonroof track

 

I guess if you don't have a moon roof, you probably won't have that tube...

 

I took a picture of the tube behind the jack just now. It looks like the liquid inside is the blue color of washer fluid. So it has to be the routing going up inside the left rear quarter panel to get to the rear wiper- washer assembly.

 

Apparently I don't know how to read a diagram... could have sworn it showed that being routed down the passenger side on the 5th gen. Or else I have no idea where my jack is located

 

I have not seen any diagrams but the picture is in the area behind the jack (shown in pic). The tube looks filled with washer fluid? The upstream side of tube has a protective sleeve around it. The downstream side has a larger rubber tube around it.

 

Couple things:

Follow that tube to the left and down, and it terminates in a right angle towards the wheel well - where the rear sunroof drain is supposed to be. If you pull off the rear mudflap you'll see the exit point of the hose.

Also, I don't think that's washer fluid. It's the color of the tube. Mine is blue too but I've used green fluid for the last 3 years.

 

So you are saying it’s the moonroof drain and it drips water out of vehicle between the mudflap and the quarter panel? The tube just happens to be blue washer fluid color? Makes sense. I thought the tube was larger than necessary for a washer fluid flowpath. But if it’s a roof drain, it’s different color (blue vs clear) than the one shown in “whippersnapper” post picture above. Any idea where the front roof drains empty out? Based on “whippersnapper” picture, it looks like it can’t be the front mudflats because the tube is already down to the floor elevation.

 

There's a very detailed post on the "other" 4Runner forum that shows all of this, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to post a link to that forum. Search that forum and you'll see it all. It is, without a doubt, the drain.

 

I found this pic on the other forum. It is the drain outflow location for the front drains. Where is that hole?
