about a decade ago i bought a 88 1st gen from a yard for 2 grand, only 110 thousand miles. 3vze and a auto, after a few years the bearings went out, but its still only at 135k miles. is a engine rebuild worth it as a first car for my kid? no rust and the body and paint is perfect; the fiberglass top could use a refinish and it probably needs some tires. Good first car? worth the rebuild? if i were to sell it how much is it worth?

anything under 150,000 miles for a Toyota is considered baby miles lol

It depends. Can you do the work or do you have to farm out the work? And if you can do the work, get yourself the 3.4 to replace it.

    Totally stock.
Bought my '88 (3VZE manual!) with 180K; it went to 300k. Took the hard top off & then i rebuilt it. I'm over 500k now!
