I used to work for a large forest preserve district as an arborist/ecology resto tech type roll. The wildlife biologist had erected a few osprey polls scattered about the county to encourage osprey nesting. Every spring they would go out and tag the youngins along with some state folks. Anyways, they needed access up these polls so they would have us drive out 65’ bucket truck out there and run the controls to get them up and down. This photo was from one of those days where I got to be the operator.

Awesome photos! The cliff line-up reminds me of a funny story we've probably all heard about the bus driver's interviews. Three bus drivers were being interviewed for a job, and the company owner asked each one, "How close can you drive a bus to a cliff without falling off?" The first applicant said, "I can drive within 20 feet of a cliff edge and not fall over the side". The second applicant, figuring he'd one-up the previous guy, answered, "I can drive a bus to within 10 feet of a cliff edge and not fall off." The third applicant said, "I don't drive busses anywhere near the edge of cliffs." Guess which one got hired? :D

Very epic looking! But I’m on the edge of my seat imagining you bogging down right before the tide comes in. I’ll assume you made it out lol.

Now, go find a freshwater lake or stream, and do the same haha.

Trash one undercarriage! Now, drive through a stream and give all of us a bad name for trashing wildlife habitat!

better do some major pressure wash soap flush inside the rails. And if you dont have an extended diff breather, you might have water in the diff

Wash it off VERY WELL. When I drove the "Old Mojave Road" from AZ to Socal, we had to cross Soda Lake near Zzyzx, we needed hours to get all the salts off the underside! While living about 1/2 mile from the ocean in SoCal, we had to oil our firearms at least twice a month to prevent rusting. People who don't live near the ocean don't realize how insidious salt can be.

Only 13 miles off of Hwy 395 (Now it's mostly paved, not like the first time I went). But Caltrans says the road is impassable. Out itinerary prevents us from coming in on the Nevada side. Gotta couple of weeks, so hope it will get better but I expect Caltrans has other areas to concentrate on. Oh well, there's always Manzanar!
