    Hey guys,

    This will hopefully be a thread that everyone can go to when they find themselves asking

    “what do I have to do to fit 35’s on my 5th gen?”

    My first goal is to get them to fit and not rub during daily driving. Then I will move onto making them not rub at full flex.

    Before doing this it seemed like 35’s were gate kept. After doing this, and driving for a bit I am here to say its not as bad as its made out to be. I did everything except the welding by myself, in my garage with basic hand/power tools. I live where its flat, but I really do not feel like a re gear is needed.

    Lets start with the parts I have, and why I chose them. (I will add to this if I find myself buying/needing more. Will also add pictures as I install)

    - King 2.5 Shocks EXT travel with adjusters, OME medium lift springs for the rear

    I went with this kit because I went budget on my prior tacoma, and wanted to try something nice. Planning on setting these at about 2.5-2.75 inch lift (they go up to 3 but I’d rather not max them out)

    - Total Chaos UCA

    Okay, hear me out. These match the Kings the best out of any of the options I came across. They are uniballs, so more work to maintain but certainly reliable and help with the caster

    - Work S1HC 17x8.5 -10

    Had Volk TE37XT on order, supplier lied about shipping times and ended up canceling. This was my choice before I knew what Volks were. No I won’t have to care about scratches and dings offroad!

    — Toyo Open Country AT3 35x12.50r17 load range C

    Same as the wheels, trying to keep these light. Weigh about 57 lbs per tire, and have the tread I need for all my Costco trips

    Now onto the “mods” I have done or plan to do before putting on the wheels.

    - Viper Cut

    I did this so I don’t have to worry about rubbing in the front once I increase caster and add a bigger tire. I have a crappy youtube video I made on this process, just search “Viper Cut | Road Fitting 35s on a 4Runner” (will also be recording all the other steps)

    - Body Mount Chop

    This is to keep the tire from rubbing in the back. I did the cutting myself and paid a mobile welder to come out and weld it. Turned out pretty nice for the cost.

    - Pinch Weld “Mod”

    Basically just cut and hammered the pinch weld towards the cab. Idea is to prevent rubbing when flexing. (Those Costco curbs are serious)

    This is definitely not ready to be used heavily off road. However, there is no rubbing on normal roads and some rougher fire roads. I don’t live close enough to anything big to test it, but I do believe I would need to do a cab mount relocate to really eliminate rubbing under full compression.

    Hmm. There's no guide. You need to fit the tires/wheels and then trim. Yeah the body mount, pinch weld , fender liners, bumper, and whatever else will definitely need trimmed. But you need to see where you need to trim or else you'll probably be doing it twice.

    Instead of a bmc, you should just relocate the body mount. There's a few kits out there.

    I am making the guide as I go and finish the whole project.

    For BMC I am going to try a rounded plate and aggressive chop before going to a relocated mount!

    That's pretty light for a 35" tire. Looking forward to some updates and pictures....

    A lot of stuff.
    You don't need a relocation to clear 35's while flexing.Told by a handful of shops its just hyped up. Good alignment is key. I have a BMC with my 35's.
