Just noticed on new ORP there are no factory cross bars provided with 2023 4Runner? Online looks like a pair is around $100. Is this typical? Any recommendations?

Mine didn't come with any. I bought the OEM ones online.

There are a number of aftermarket options. Or, depending on your needs, a 3/8" carriage bolt fits in the slots on the side rails.

Yeah, they are an option to purchase. But, that does open up some options since you have to purchase anyway. I was looking at some flat inserts that slid into the channel of the factory rails that essentially turns it into a flat cargo space. Victory 4x4 and Artec Industries were the ones I was originally looking at before deciding on just getting the Sherpa rack.

I had no clue that carriage bolts fit in there...make putting extruded aluminum bars up there pretty easy

I’ve got two extras if you want them. Just pay for shipping from So Cal.

If a 4R has them when new, they'll be listed on the window sticker as an option or part of an optional package. If your original window sticker has them on it, and you don't have 'em, a visit to the dealer is due to have them provide a set. If not listed, aftermarket are better anyway.

Also agree with Stoney. I have the factory roof bars and they are next to worthless.

I needed roof bars to primarily carry lumber and plywood. Decided to use some aftermarket ones made by Malone to get the width needed to secure a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Combined with a truck bed extender, this is the perfect solution for me. The roof vars were under $200 shipped and the bed extender can be purchased on Amazon for $80.

So you have enough clearance with the cargo box for the shark fin in the rear?
