I recently bought front struts from O' Reillys and just before I dropped the old struts, I noticed there is a hydraulic line connected, where the new struts do not have this. As I understand it, what I'm replacing is the factory X-reas struts, and the Master Craft are your standard strut. SO I have two questions really....
    1) What am I losing if I go with the standard struts?
    2) I am mechanically inclined and do my own work, but compressing the coil springs is not something I can do. So, is there an X-reas strut that comes fully assembled? I CAN FIND NOTHING!!!!

    Thanks in advance!

I'm opposite of you. I'm not mechanically sound person. Here's my experiance removing my XREAS with a shop.

    1) What am I losing if I go with the standard struts?
    - I found that after market shocks I tried (Bilstien5100 & Ironman FCP) are not good as XREAS on pavement. They did not bumps and cracks on road as good as XREAS did.

    2) I am mechanically inclined and do my own work, but compressing the coil springs is not something I can do. So, is there an X-reas strut that comes fully assembled? I CAN FIND NOTHING!!!!
    - As far as I can see the front shock is connected to the rear shock on the opposite side with some sort of a valve kinda thing in the middle. So 2 shocks connected together with oil running across. So you can't get fully assembled strut. I don't know if Toyota sell fully assembled 2 struts. Maybe you have to buy fully assembled 4 struts. Not sure since I decide to remove all struts and replace with aftermarket independent struts (if that's the correct word, LoL).

I wasn't even sure you could change just 2.

Think you need to change all.
