I just purchased my new baby (08 4runner), currently has BF Goodrich KO2s on them, but they desperately need replacing due to age and cracking. Love the look of those tires but out of my price range just a bit. So I'm deciding between the Cooper Discoverer ATP ii and the Fallen Wildpeak A/T3W. Anyone have any thoughts on either of these tires and which are the better option?

i run Falken WP 285/70/17 standard load on everything and LOVE them! Here are 265/65/17 on my sons 2007. And these arent my first set of Falkens either. Had 3 sets on my 2011 SR5 and 1 set on my 2022 Trail Edition.

I cant wait for the shitty stock tires on my wifes 2016 CX5 wear out so I can put Falken WPs on it. Lol!

I have Falken Wildpeak AT3W 285/70R17 SL. I will more likely go with a less weight tire like Toyo Open Country AT3 (which I have on my TRD) or Cooper discoverer at3 4s. Yokohama Geolander is also on my radar. I think all these 3 options are USA made vs my Falken are Thailand made.

I've had both, stock size Coopers on a 17 SR5 and 33" Wildpeaks on my current 19 ORP. I don't have a ton of miles on the Falkens yet but I am impressed thus far. They are definitely a better all terrain / light offroad tire than the Coopers IMO. I base this on dirt road, light off road, mud use.

If I was a poseur I would also note that the Falkens look better.... LOL...

Agreed, they are USA made. Apparently quite a few of the Wildpeak tires are coming out of China now.

I’ve run the Falken’s on my 2015 Tacoma for several years. No complaints at all.

Falkens or Nittos IMO. Homeboy had Coopers and they got loud on him.

now that I think about it, my sons 2007 had coopers on them and about 30,000 miles or so they were getting a little slippery in the rain. Change them to the Falkens and zero issues.

I have the 265/70/17 on my limited. I’ve been impressed with the Falken Wildpeak in the rain and snow here in NY. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. 061718CA-E1EF-4292-B121-0F5333D756F2.jpg

exactly, the last snow storm we had in Pa I drove across my front lawn, wife thought I was crazy, in close to a foot of snow. No sweat for the Falkens.

My wife always says. 2,22,62, 102 men are all still 2. I definitely would have driven across the lawn with deep snow to check out the traction of the new tires once again proving her right.

Yeah, they do. The 275 in C load weigh almost as much as their 285 E loads (1.8 lb less). They are quite heavy for what they are, 57.1 lb.

Even in 285/70R17 size thier Standard load tires are heavy than some of Load C competitors. That's why I want to move out of them. I don't think I can get good money for my Falkens as they have about 8000miles on them.

I went from the Falken MT’s to these Toyo RT’s and am very happy with them. They do very well off road as they are still pretty aggressive, and on road they make way less noise than the Falkens. Also very good in the heavy rain we have been getting, i have not had them in the snow so i can not speak to that, but i like that they are made in the USA.

Thanks, they are on my list of next tire to get. A friend recently purchased a set of the New Mickey Thompson’s he likes them a lot, I’m looking at those also.

I was at the shop i go to (The Truck Shop) and was talking to them about tires, so he says i just got a delivery of the new Toyo RT’s and rolled one up for me to look at. I still had half the tread left on the Falkens but i had been doing some research on different tires, i liked the Mickey Thompson’s also. They were kind of busy so he just left the tire with me, and finally came walking past, so i asked him if he was going to install these for me or what? Lol
