Anyone know why my digital clock wouldn’t be keeping time? It’s off by like hours after a couple days.

First check that it's not a problem with a connector, if it loses power the clock will reset. Spray some tuner cleaner on the plug to clean it. Check that it's getting the correct voltage too.

The buttons that are used to adjust the time (most likely) work by having a conductive pad on backside that bridges some traces on the PCB when pushed in. I'd check that something isn't bridging that gap and causing the time to change.

Otherwise the clocks in 4runners use a quartz oscillator, which are quite reliable. So after that you'll have to know some more advanced electronics to go any further.

Good call I’ll check the power situation to make sure it’s not losing power.

I have been doing some stereo work lately maybe I didn’t put the connector back on snuggly.

there isn’t like a disk battery in there somewhere is there? Does the main car battery keep the clock powered even with the car off?

No, they are completely reliant on the car battery. The clock keeps track of time when the car is off as long as the car battery has connection to it.

Assuming it's like a 3rd gen, which is likely.
