Windshield De-Icer? Wiper blades?

I will try that, see if it get warm.

 

This is where the sensor is wired to the windshield on a Tacoma or Tundra, not sure if it is the same for 4Runner. Just right of the VIN plate cutout.

 

Can you see the heating elements in that windshield or is it nicely hidded in the black paint/surround?

 

I did not look closely when taking this picture but it looks like it is hidden behind the tint. I was more interested in how the encapsulant was working and not the heating element at this time.

 

If you look at the photo in post #8 of this thread you can see the elements. I may have mentioned before that the elements are hard to see in the daylight but are unmistakeable after dark with a flashlight.

It's my understanding that every 5th gen. has this feature no matter the trim level. My 2019 SR5 has it as well as my son's 2016 SR5. I've also heard some complaints that it has caused cracking in the windshield?

 

my 2022 SR5 Premium has this option and its mediocre at best.. had the opportunity to use it several times this past winter... definitely not impressed... my other bmw and the hyundai have this feature as well and they work and really help when lots of ice or frozen snow on the windshield by the wipers...

 

My experience exactly. Great idea. Poor execution.
