What is the best you think I could do on this vehicle for pricing if dealer even willing to negotiate. (before taxes) . I haven’t bought a car in 10 years so some guidance would be appreciated.
I made an offer which was unacceptable to them. I know there hasn’t been much budging and starting to wonder if worth it. Hopefully these images come through

You didn’t say what your initial offer was but there’s $2134 worth of DAO that I would consider worthless. The Predator package is what it is but the rest is all fluff. That said, I rather doubt the dealer will negotiate those off in this market. If they’re sitting on $54108 and it’s not for you, just keep looking.

I went to buy a new ORP in May of 22 less than a year ago probably at the worst time ever. I found 1 ORP at 1 dealer he just got in and asked him for his best price. He told me add $5000 to the sticker for anything on the lot. I told him I’d go somewhere else as that’s not acceptable. I went to the 2nd nearest dealer who had the same vehicle different color and he told me add $7000 to anything on the lot. So I ended up finding a low mileage pre owned 18 Limited with 30,100 miles for only $3000 more than it was worth. You just can’t win these days and I didn’t have time to shop around. My transmission blew and needed a car immediately. Hopefully you have the time to play the dealer games and shop around for the best prices. They are a little better now than when I was shopping but not much. Good luck.

I would have offered 47 tops and told them to remove all the extra stuff. There are dealerships selling at MSRP without the extra add ons. You need to decide if your time making phone calls and sending emails is worth the thousands you could keep. Just decide how far your willing to travel and contact as many dealerships as possible, you might even find someone under MSRP.

The one advantage I have is my car works perfectly great though needs oil leak fixed so my back isn’t against wall to hurry. I travel a lot so going back forth across USA is nothing and headed to SD for 3 months soon so totally open to another state that knows I will register in southeast . Appreciate this input though and realize I am not too far off the mark. 47 would be better for sure but was shooting for a win/win. They always win.

At MSRP they are winning, and 47 honestly is a few hundred too much, but I waited over 6 months with multiple deposits down and even more dealerships looking for what I wanted. I had one salesperson, whom I still email with, that looked hard for what I wanted, then one day I asked do you folks add a market adjustment, he said yes and there was nothing he could do about it. I told him to let me know if the dealership changed their mind and I would buy from him. Needless to say I picked up my runner from someone else.

If we keep paying over MSRP, dealerships will keep pricing them like that. If you travel a lot, try to spend time looking at dealerships at the places you are traveling through.

Toyota dot com is nice, just keep changing your zip code to see different area inventory. I had made a spreadsheet of all the dealerships I was willing to travel to and either sent an email, called or watched their inventory.

Very good advice and I agree with you. Question is…do you lose all of those deposits?

If dealers are bing dicks, then call or email them from a different account. Say you want to come in to look at the vehicle and ask them for price. Book a time and not show up. Have someone you know (friend or family) book a test drive, and then have them laugh at the price and walk away. If the car sits on the lot, close to the end of the month with these experiences you could cause a bit of panic (psychologically reverse supply / demand in your favour). Typically you want to go in 3-4 days before end of month try and make a deal, as they don’t want to make another payment to carry their inventory.

I know this act may seem underhanded, but you’re playing their game. I think MSRP is fair thee days or maybe slightly more, but some of these mark ups need to be addressed by the manufacturers.

NO, I made sure the deposits are refundable. Although one I placed in August of 21, I just got back a month or so ago. This was at a local dealership that changed hands since then, and I had a very very bad salesperson.

We fell into a good deal. I am currently overseeing construction on a Lincoln Dealership and know the owner pretty well. A guy traded in the 2022 ORP that we currently have for a Lincoln Navigator ("traveling soccer vehicle was needed"), but he had some work done to the Runner. Lift, suspension upgrade and 33" durtrac tires (along with some misc other stuff) and we got it for $46K and it only have 6K miles. A dealership in Tulsa was offering him $46K to buy it from them. I imagine it was going to sell for $50-55K?

We got it for $46K with all of that included. The previous owner claims he put $10K into it, but without his build list we can't really tell if its $10K. It has Rago Fab crossbars, Maiker molle panels in the rear windows, $720 Mossy Oak camo front and rear seat covers (that we immediately took off and trying to sell), headrest DVD players that we are trying to sell. He was in the middle of building a storage box in the back but it was only the frame work.

So it's hard to say what all he did mechanically to it to equate to maybe $7-8K? :notsure:
