Rust Concern/Advice Needed

Hey guys!

I have a friend that it’s looking for a decent 4R to purchase and there is 2017 that could be the one to buy. However, the 4R is starting to have rust underneath and not sure if this is a ticking bomb down the road. Is there anything to prevent the spread or if is best to continue to look for other 4R’s? Below are the pics the guy provided to my friend. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Just wire brush it and paint if you are worried.

That's just surface rust....

 

Those picture are normal and not concerning in the least. POR15 if you desire and then Fluid Film/Wool Wax. The one hidden spot to check if your friend desires is above the forward skid plate under the radiator.

 

Looks good to me. High psi pressure wash, wire brush/scrap what you can, clean surface to be sprayed(i would put a coat of paint on everything you can get to) rustoleum professional rusty metal primer, rustoleum professional protective enamel. Then think about rust proofing in the future to maintain. Especially to the inside of the frame.

 

The rust what you see is outside, and inside frame and in all crevices that you dont see, the same rust. No amount outside paint will protect it from rusting from inside, therefore the best course of action use fluid film. Fluid film inside frame and all pockets effectively stops rust.
