Hello all! Last week I had several mods performed on my 2023 TRD Pro 4runner with Morimoto XB headlight install being one of them. My headlights now randomly come on with the vehicle turned off and you can hear something running while the headlights are on. I don’t think I can insert a video on this thread for reference. I’m not sure how often it’s happening. I’m tempted to put a camera on it to see how often this occurs as I don’t want a dead battery. Same thing when the vehicle is cranked. The lights stay on for a minute or two after the vehicle is turned off and the sound of something running is present as well. Anyone know what’s causing this? I also had a new bumper with light bar installed and new fogs at the same time but I’m not having problems with any other lights.

Sounds like someone didn’t wore them correctly. They can’t just randomly turn themselves on, whatever is powering them is turning them on. They probably tapped into an always hot circuit somewhere.

This has been brought up a couple times already. Sounds like they might be fused off of a fuel pump that comes on 40 minutes after the vehicle is turned off and then again a couple hours later. Once again sounds like Morimoto (CoPlus really since Morimoto doesn’t make their own headlights) doesn’t know what they are doing with the new 2022+ trucks. There is a constant DRL signal that they could use instead of a fuse tap when the vehicle is on

You just have to change the location of the fuse tap. Read through the link posted above. :)

First purchase was the XB LEDS in Amber and they were nothing but problems. Morimoto was nothing but problems down to the customer service. I purchased the alpharex Nova G2's and couldn't be happier.

I hope they come through and fix your issue.

I changed the fuse location and it did solve the headlights randomly coming on issue but not the loud fan running sound anytime the lights are on. Morimoto is sending a replacement but if I have further problems I’m moving to plan B. It stinks because I love the look but there’s only so many times I’m gonna take this front bumper off for headlight issues. For $1300 it shouldn’t be this way.

How "loud" is the fan? Are you sure it's not normal? I have Morimotos on the 4R and my Tundra.

Could be the evap system test running if the vehicle has been off for several hours.

With the exception of appearance, why are people swapping their superior OEM LED headlights for these inferior aftermarket units?

Eh... Not really. Superior in what way? Both have pros and cons depending on what you prefer. Performance wise, the gen2's actually have slightly better light output and a sharper cutoff with no dead spots. However, the OEM housings have a warmer light and diffuse some light above the cutoff so you don't get that crazy contrast difference making it easier on the eyes.

They both have great optics where the hotspots are located up by the cutoff which help direct light further down the road as opposed to other housings that just blast the foreground right in front of the vehicle. With that said however, considering how cheap you find used OE LED housings for, there's no doubt that's the better buy.

I see much better at night with the Morimoto’s and aesthetically, at least in my eyes, all the aftermarkets look better than stock.

I sent the video to Morimoto. Customer service told me the headlight needed replacing. It’s quite loud.

Wow. I haven't had any issues with any of mine other that lens hazing which is covered under the 5 yr warranty. Nice to see a young lady that does her own mods. :)

Oh nooooo. I’m not doing them, although I’ve probably watched enough videos to be able to do it.

How did Morimoto handle the warranty? (Still waiting on them to respond to my request.)
My XB's are hazing horribly but from what I read, their warranty requires the lights to be returned before they will send replacements. So since I don't have the OEM lights I'm thinking I'm screwed.. or need to find a spare set while I would have to wait.

I had to pay up front for the replacement headlight. I haven’t had time to change it out and the clock is ticking on returning the faulty one so I will probably eat the cost of the headlight which is INSANE. They are brand new.

Who did you purchase them through? I bought mine through Headlight Revolution. I contacted them and they had me send pics. He replied saying that they are warranty replacements. He shipped me a new set and I used that same box to return the bad set. I put PPF on the new ones.

I bought them through 4runner Lifestyle but reached out to Morimoto hoping there was an easy fix for the noise the light was making so I’ve been dealing with Morimoto directly on the issue.

I had thought it was through the dealership but I can only find the invoice for the dealership to install the headlights and tail lights. Not for the actual purchase of the lights. Which in turn is probably going to cause an issue with even trying to get them to replace if I don't have an order number or proof of purchase.
