I changed my mind! Lunar Rock instead of Silver Metallic

Ok, my new Metallic Silver ORP is due here next Friday. I made the mistake of dropping by dealer yesterday while a young woman (probably 22-25) was taking delivery of her Lunar Rock ORP, with her dad. For some reason I felt like I wanted Lunar Rock now. It really looked good. My dealer happened to have a Lunar Rock on the way not yet pre-sold. He had another Lunar Rock which became pre sold after last night. He agreed to delete the Predator Step ($899) I don’t want and the $699 Toyoguard Platinum. This ORP has the sliding rear cargo deck already ordered, which I wanted. The delivery date is April 7 instead of next Friday (2 additional weeks). I really like the Metallic Silver and it is classic. But the Lunar Rock really looked good especially with the contrast to the silver front and rear bumpers. My wife is laughing at me changing my mind. Anyway, the young woman got 2 key fobs with her ORP yesterday also, as a data point. I’m only getting 3 options: moonroof, sliding rear cargo deck, and all weather cargo cover. I hope I don’t regret changing my mind?

Lunar rock is a great color. I have silver, I like it, but it's pretty boring. About 50% of the cars on the road seem to be silver. Lunar rock is definitely more interesting, even though a lot of other manufacturers do have similar colors these days, they're not as common as say silver or black.

There's a guy around the corner for me that has a new Jeep Wrangler in a color similar to lunar, except it has a touch more green to it. I believe the color is called "Earl" (as in Earl Gray) it looks fantastic.

I think Silver is classy. If I were going to a nice event dressed up I would like Silver. The Lunar Rock is thought provoking. I find myself wondering what color it really looks like. Seems to change in different lighting. I will mostly use mine for hunting (alone) and road trips with my wife. They are all good colors. But I can afford one.

Lunar Rock is definitely a thought provoking color. I see it as grey but people have told me there's a green hue to it (I'm red/green color blind). I think it's a great color and would have been a top choice for me. When I was shopping I really appreciated the Cement color on the TRD Pro, but that color unfortunately never made it down to the lower trim levels.

I think cement is still my favorite Pro color, and you're right, it's a shame that it never made it to other models. Not a shame for cement Pro-owners though, since they still get a damn good price for them, haha.

I actually didn't like lunar rock at first, but it grew on me as I started to see it around more. Now, like you said, it's interesting because you look at it and you wonder exactly what color it's supposed to be, like maybe the light is playing a trick with it.

I almost went for Lunar Rock myself. Good looking. I try to avoid black, white, silver, and red.

    Congratulations!

I have a 21 Lunar Rock Pro and still really love the color. Silver and the MGM colors are fine, but they are everywhere on all types of vehicles. I don't see that many Lunar Rocks despite them being on the OR models for the past two years. I really like the flat colors like Cement, Quick Sand, Calvary Blue, Army Green and Lunar Rock. I think in 21 or 22 you could buy a Trail model in Cement.

I originally wanted a MGM ORP then decided to go for a MGM Pro, but I had two deals for a MGM Pro fall thru while I was planning to head to the dealerships (both bought by someone else before I could arrive). I had only seen one Lunar Rock Pro Tacoma at a dealership and I was not impressed with the color at all. Then in passing one day I finally saw a LR 4R on the road and thought it looked pretty good. Then I saw a second LR 4R pass in front of me for a couple of seconds and I was hooked. I got lucky in May of 2021 when a LR Pro showed up at local dealer and it was no longer claimed. I happened to be the first one to inquire on the day it arrived. I paid $2,000 above MSRP ($54K) which I was fine with since they could have sold it for $5K to $10K more within a week. Plus, I got $14,000 for a trade-in that I was hoping to get $10,000 for. When I arrived at the dealership to pick it up, it was the first time I had seen a LR 4R for more than 5 seconds. I could not believe how great it looked and that it was mine for the taking!

The Lunar Rock looks great in low light - more greyish, and more greenish in the bright daylight. It looks the same clean or dirty!

You cannot go wrong with Silver or any color for that matter, but Lunar Rock is a really cool color in my opinion! I am very grateful to have it!

    Good luck to you!

Hopefully this picture will help sway you! It almost looks like a Cement.

almost forgot about the trail. it was difficult to find local and even harder on the wallet for what it is. today a cement trail is just about as rare as a cement pro.

Mine is Lunar Rock and I love the color. I ordered in Feb of 2022 and got it October 2022, but it was a 2023. So the wait was long but worth it.

Cement and Quick Sand Pro's definitely are the rarest of the 4R's.

Lunar rock is an amazing color. Looks even more appealing with a matte PPF applied.

Lunar Rock ORP rocks, but ditch the silver valences and change the grille to pro style, add a Sherpa rack and Greenlane sliders, pro rims and Falken wildpeaks and VOILA:

Cement, Lunar Rock, Quick Sand, Voodoo Blue, Army Green, and Solar Octane, are all great colors! Silver is nice, but the 4runner isn't supposed to be nice. It's a fun rugged car meant to hit the trails. Silver belongs on a Mercedes.

When I bought mine, I had no restrictions on color but black was probably near the bottom of the list (with white), Lunar Rock at the top (silver second). The more I see Lunar Rock around, the happier I am that I didn't get it. I know black is a tough color but it looks so good.

In the end, I'm glad there are a variety of colors because it would be boring AF if we all had the same color...(I'm lookin at you Henry Ford)...
