We are going out to Ruidoso NM for a vacation. Have been many times thru the years and love the area. Anyone have any suggestions on good trails? In the past we have always had fun on forest service roads.

There's a ghost town (really an abandoned mining camp and operation) called "Parsons" near (above) Bonito Lake. I haven't been up there in a while, but not too long ago, some of the old mining equipment and a large bunk house were mostly in tact there. The trail continues up from there. It's not technically difficult but kinda fun to see - in a retro kind of way. Here's a link which only shows the mine shaft - not the rest of the encampment.

Parsons Mine, Nogal Mining District, Lincoln County, New Mexico, USA (mindat.org)

Also - You can enter "Parsons Mine, NM" in Google Earth and it'll show it.

Here's a link from Google Maps:

Goes without saying if you're a regular there, but "The Lodge" in Cloudcroft is a must-do for a great meal, complete with the story of the ghost of "Rebecca" - folklore has it that she still haunts the place.
