Knob Missing the Thingamajig

I noticed that my Temperature control knob is missing the plastic strip thingamajig pointer that lights up orange to show what the knob is set on.

It's not a big deal, and yet it's going to bug the shit out of me. How would I go about finding a new strip or new knob? Call junkyards? Would I need to order a whole set of new knobs?

 

Best bet would be junkyard. Toyota would probably want to sell you the whole console.

Plan B, figure out what kind of plastic material it is and fabricate one. Or make a custom color and sell them on this forum for a 1000% mark up like the rest of the non essential swag we are bombarded with.

You have 2 options. Replace your knobs with AJT, or find someone here who has and see if they will sell or give you an OEM knob.

RE AJT knobs, Thingamajig not included.

The AJT knob set I bought and received did not include the transparent inserts in question. Installation instructions specified transferring the transparent, orange indicators over from the stock knobs.

 

They must be different for the 4Runners. The Tundra knobs come with them.

This is just me, but I'd cut a piece of plastic or similar to fill the slot, then get some tritium paint (glows in dark) and paint the top of it.

Any luck on finding this indicator replacement? I can not find a junkyard with a new enough version of my 4Runner.
I can’t believe someone hasn’t made an aftermarket version of this piece!
Any help is appreciated

 

Appears they don't sell the knobs individually. Have to buy the climate control assembly. I saw a few on ebay for under $200.

 

If you need one msg me. I didn't have one either and i bit the bullet and bough a very cheap climate control off lkq last year. So i think i have 1 left if you want it. PM me

Haha shoot I just did the same thing
Luckily found a cheap one from a dealer in Atlanta. I appreciate it though. If anyone needs OEM climate knobs PM me as well I’ll have two extra indicators once I get this one in.

 

Your third option would be to rent a 4Runner for a day. What you choose to do with the knobs available to you at that point is your call.

 

$100 and bad karma? Not worth it.
