Pretty stinky now after alot of dead animals.
I dont want to spend time and wasted money. Im hoping somone else already did that for me. Im looking for advise. Looking for better air/cooler. Rack should be beefy enough to handle tire, dead animals, etc.

The question is will it hold a 17 foot Canoe at highway speeds?
    Stock one is proven!

The custom racks are lovely and more than I wanted to spend. I made mine out of a metal 4 x 8 fence panel and a length of perforated square steel tubing from Lowe's. Cost was under $150. I removed the factory crossbars, and cut 4 pieces of tubing about 4" long. I screwed these to the roof track, using the existing factory nuts that slide in the track. This gave enough clearance for the fence panel to lay on top without contacting the sheet metal of the roof. Then I drilled holes on the fence panel to match the location of the tubing, and screwed the panel on top of the tubing, with screws going through the holes in the tubing and into sliding nuts in the roof track. It was a little tricky finding the right length of screws; I ended up ordering stainless steel ones from Amazon.

The result is a sturdy, functional rack. It creates quite a bit of wind noise. I've experimented with cardboard fairings that reduce the noise considerably, but I've not yet made a permanent one. I just remove the rack when not in use. I mainly use it to haul plywood and lumber. It seems to be able to handle anything I am able to put up there.
