Emissions vapor pump running hours after truck shut off

This pump was running 4 hours after turning the truck off.
I managed to tap and wiggle it and it went off. Above the spare tire
truck is a 2021 w/45k

 

Yep, they do that.

is it the auto diagnostic thing that *starts" a few hours after shut off, or is it constantly running after shutdown?

 

Self test, not constant running.

 

Check the manual. Routine, typically something like 5 hours after shutoff.

 

how long after gas fill? have you ever continue to pump gas at gas station, after gun click off? if not, than it's normal. if yes, than you heading to vapor canister replacement soon, as charcoal soaked with gasoline.

 

I guess that's one drawback of parking in a garage...you hear stuff. Those of us who park outside - nuthin...

 

Anybody that hears something running 5 hours after they shut the vehicle off with think there's a malfunction, bad design. Who reads every page of the manual, Even if one did they don't even remember 5 to 10%
I'll bet the service adviser's laugh every time somebody calls With this issue.

Well manuals used to show you how to adjust valves but now it tells you not to drink the battery acid.

 

Hmmm... I wonder why?

 

Now days vehicles are ridiculously complicated and apparently affordable by folks who aren’t smart enough to own one.
Referring to the battery acid drinkers.

 

Because people don’t use search functions.
