Greetings brothers and sisters! What do I get with KDSS?

    And, are these prices reasonable?
The two are identical except KDSS
    Thanks
    Fateh

    KDSS has two benefits.

First, it acts as a partial sway bar disconnect at low speeds to allow greater suspension articulation on technical trails. Second, it uses a thicker sway bar which reduces body roll in regular driving.

If you plan on doing mostly highway driving, and some mildly technical trail use, it might be just perfect for you.

But, if you plan major suspension modifications, I would skip it as it eventually becomes a limiting factor.

Also, if you don't plan on doing much off-roading, and you don't care about the reduced body roll, I would also skip it, as it adds another potential point of failure.

The accumulator module is prone to corrosion if it is not cleaned occasionally. Keep this in mind if you do opt for KDSS.

I changed some lights, tires and tinted windows...mind blowing huh
For me it was absolutely worth the money, it feels wonderfully stable on the road.

Thanks. I think I'm going to put the deposit on the kdss one. I have no plans to modify my 4runner, and I want a nice smooth riding truck.

Is the kdss extra suspension travel significant?

The only modification that I would next day is either KO2s or Duratracs

Check out the video shared above, it does an amazing job explaining it.

It's cool tech that sounds like it will fit your needs since you don't plan to modify the suspension.

I did Ko2's and I have had good luck with them, I know opinions on them are a little hit or miss with these

Let's face it, if serious off-roading was my thing, I would arm a third gen to the teeth and beat the heck out of it on the rocks. This beauty will be my cruiser that I will keep till the end of times. The most that it's going to see will be some forest roads.
It will be a cruiser of course, but I will have confidence that I can deal with things when they get rough. 4Runner is my most favorite Toyota

I'm basically in the same camp as you. Can't compare KDSS with non-KDSS but I understand what it does and love my new '23 TRD-ORP as a daily driver, my main use, but also like having all the off road capability which I would rarely use. And I plan to keep this forever whether I continue to drive it daily or just at some point keep it as a second vehicle.

I am an over the road truck driver. I will not be driving this thing much. It will be sitting outside with non-ethanol gas in the tank and some peppermint bags under the hood. This truck will give me an old feel. Cars are getting frankly speaking stupid

Welcome. I would opt in for the KDSS and have them remove the port-installed junk. The predator tube steps are overpriced off-road damage waiting to happen and you can get Huskyliners or Weathertechs for floor liners.

This. Husky liners are cheaper and better.

Nobody addressed my question. Is this a reasonable price? 3 years ago a TRD 4Runner was like $46,000. Now $49,000

3 years ago my 2020 Pro had an MSRP of $52k and the new 2023 Pro has an MSRP of $56k. These both are optioned similar. A $3k price increase is pretty standard with all of the additional tech and safety features that they’ve added.

can't compare prices for just about any vehicle 2020 vs. 2023. its a brave new world.

those line item sheets are based on MSRP. you won't get much of anything better than MSRP these days.

    $46,000 in 2020, in inflation adjusted dollars, is $53,173.11 today. At $49k you’re getting a $2,000 discount!

Seriously, there are a few threads about the merits and liabilities of KDSS, and there seems to be no consensus on the issue. When I first started researching 4Runners I had never heard of it. It took a lot of research before I could wrap my head around what it is and how it works. It’s a brilliant technology in my opinion. The fact that it comes on the Land Cruiser, Lexus GX, and Prado is a good recommendation. I went out of my way to get it, and I like it. Have a look at this:

Is the KDSS a Japanese product bolted to the 4Runner in Japan?
