Hi I’m a new owner of a 2022 TRD sport and I’m pricing 3” lift kits and found the one I want but I want to use my 20” stock wheels but I’m trying to figure out what size tire I can use. Can anyone help with this ?

I agree with the advice to drop down to a 17 inch wheel of your choosing. If you do, avoid negative offset wheels and anything much wider than 8.5. If you decide not to go this route, there are quite a few people pinching a 275/55/r20 on the stock wheel.

When you say pinching, is it too tight a fit for the wheel well?

275 is technically “too wide” a tire for some folks. The wheel is 7inches wide, and a 275 is out of spec for a wheel that narrow. Some shops will not install them, some shops will. Lots of folks have gotten away with running this size, but ive chosen not to go this route. “Pinching” in this case would be the too wide a tire on too narrow a wheel, which may cause irregular wear.

When I wanted to lift my Limited the shop said it would be very difficult to do a 3in lift in front without damage to XREAS and also said rear XREAS shock are too short for anything more than 1in lift in rear. So I went ahead and remove my XREAS suspension when I lift. If you do a minor lift you should be able to keep the stock XREAS shocks based on my experience.

Great info here! Also, the pics and info youve shared about your 4runner really helped me better understand the limited, lifting it, and how things can look, so thank you very much. Ive spent a good deal of time watching your vids on the lift, the diff wheels and tire combos youve gone through, etc. This info is super helpful for folks who wanna keep XREAS. I am a big fan myself, but ultimately decided that id like to part ways with XREAS to open up my options. Keeping XREAS will definitely limit your options, IMO.
