I bought a 2006 4Runner last year and the tailgate window has never worked. Ive tried the switch on the dash and I can hear a click come from the tailgate but the window wont go up or down. The defroster, wiper, washer fluid sprayer wont work either. Ive made sure the window lock switch is off and it still wont work. What else can I do to fix this? Im having a hard time finding the right parts to fix it

Probably a break in the wiring harness from the body to the tail gate. This is common on the 3rd gens and will be cropping up on the 4th gens.

Possibly the motor, too. The other items may not be working simply because the motor didn't drive the window all the way up on its last attempt. If the window isn't ALL THE WAY up (it only takes 1-2mm), then wiper, washer and defrost won't work. You might be able to pull the inside panel and give it a manual assist to see if you can lift the window a tiny bit.

Could also be that the truck thinks the wiper hasn't fully homed. If it thinks the wiper is somewhere other than home, the window won't work.

Could be that the failure of one of those two items prevented the other one from homing, and you actually have two separate symptoms. But I would start with the window - maybe a twig or something is stuck in the track.
