I crossed my battery terminals, fried something.
My fusible link looks to be intact. Pretty sure something fried behind the dash in the steering wheel area. It filled the car with a weird plastic smell. After I cleared the smell in the cab I could still smell a whiff of it under the steering wheel, after I opened the panel to look in. None of the wires in there looked burnt.
Two fuses blew, both in the engine bay, replaced those, but the one labeled "dome" blows as soon as I put a new one in.
Car is completely dead, nothing lights up, nothing works.
Any suggestions on things I could check?
    Thanks

It's likely you have shorted out the battery

But he says that he's blowing a fuse, so the battery has some juice in it.

He's going to need a wiring diagram for a 97 and he's going to have to trace that Dome circuit. I would pull the dash apart and look for burnt wires.
