Recently when leaving for work, I pull out on to main road and try to accelerate after getting into fourth gear and I lose power! I have to let off the gas and try slower acceleration. It kind of lurches and slows down just when I'm trying to speed ahead of gaining traffic!! It is like it is sucking air instead of fuel but actually pulls back! Not like letting off the gas and coasting. Any ideas anyone??

sounds like it's time for new coil packs wires and plugs remember you should only use the plugs that the owners manual specs. when i changed my plugs the last moron put e-3 plugs in it ran like shit. now that i got the right plugs in it made a hell of a difference.or your timing chain might be stressed out. i know you can put 200.000 on a chain but they do get stretched out over a period of time depending on how hard you are on the engine. It has 198,680 miles on it. Four cylinder engine different from the six as far as timing chain, I believe. Improves after it warms up. But it randomly cuts out while just driving normally. Like a cough, then keeps going. Worse in rainy weather. Maybe it is the plugs. Repair shop thought it was a sensor but it did not solve the issue. Frustrating because I love my 4Runner!!
