I've been considering getting an internet booster antenna for when I'm out in the mountains where there is no connection. Does anyone have any experience with these? Any pros/cons or manufacturers that you recommend?

The most popular is WeBoost. I've had no issues with mine a few years ago. I'm sure now there's more of a worthy selection.

Don't know anything more about it, other than the Desert racing community has been using it. I read it works well enough to do live streams from "in car" cameras. https://www.starlink.com/technology

The thing to keep in mind with Weboost is there has to be some signal where you're at since these will work off of cell towers. These are not SAT based.

Starlink is SAT based but I've heard speeds have slowed due to the number of users on with the service. You will get service if you have a clear path to the sky.

    Following..

I'd love to hear if those cell boosters really & practically work in mountains when there is no cell signal.
Right now my only option is texting my wife using my phone that is paired with Garmin inReach. If signal boosters really work would be nice to talk to her and tell where we are, if the kid eat, etc than texting. :p

Starlink is great when there is no "conventional" internet available, but for one to use Starlink you'd need to get the RV option, which allows you to move the antenna from place to place, and that option I believe is the most expensive, last time I checked was over $125/MO, plus you'd need to mount that antenna somewhere, not a big deal if camping but quite an issue on a moving suv.

I have both weboost and starlink.

With weboost or any other booster don't expect miracles, it will boost what it can see. Some tips if you do use is to force phone into 4g mode you will have better chance of sending txt/phone calls and some internet.

Starlink I have flat mounted on top of my RTT and provides decent service while in motion if it has pretty good view of the sky. If you are in wooded areas the phase array wont be able to penetrate the tree cover. The speeds is more than fast enough to watch a movie if that is what you're aiming for, video conference calls are really good the latency is decent and getting better as the week goes on and more satellites come online.

All great info, thank you! Weboost seems like it would make sense to try just b/c it costs a lot less.
