Toyota won't sell you a TRD Pro grille unless it's for a TRD Pro

I checked with Yota Expeditions and they are out of stock, it’s a few months out, but have some with minor defects at a discount.

 

Will be installing ours today from 4 runner lifestyles

my apologies, I did, and I wrote a short review of it in the “what have you done to your 4Runner today” thread, but I forgot to post it here. They were great to deal with, fast shipping, easy install, and only one small partially broken tab (so minor no extra hardware was required), for the 30% discount. I think it came out looking great. I’m happy with the purchase.

They just look cleaner. They don’t create such a break in the front end. My reason.

I went OEM. Just ordered it online. Didn’t need a vin. I have a 2021 venture.

 

Never really looked at the difference in the 2, but I kinda dig the different grill. Makes it look more old school? I guess I would say.

 

I have a Pro VIN I found from Carmax or something that I keep in a text file on my PC just in case I need it. I've never needed it.

 

I installed an OEM one from the dealer and the finish has held up great, but the driver side seems to be peeling away a bit. Can’t tell if it’s user error on install or the lack of adhesive (the factory provided strips are thin).

Once the weather gets warmer I plan on pulling it off and reapplying the 3M on there. @yormek made the right call on adding extra adhesive.

 

Hey, have you had a chance to install the grill yet? What do you think?

 

Install was easy enough. Has these dimples, I presume for aligning the lettering. Haven't done that yet. Small finish issues, like it has two more inserts in the grille for clips that don't exist, but it doesn't really matter. I should have took photos of it all. I am gonna guess it will do its job.

Mine has the letters included. One "O" letter was a little off.

But overall, I like the grille.

Can you post a picture from the back side to see the screws you are talking about? Did you drill holes on the actual oem front part where the Toyota logo is located before installing the grille? Sorry for the questions but is a little confusing on how the installation is done.

 

Would you happen to have any photos from similar angles of your 4R with the original grille for comparison? That looks really nice.

 

What are the "small" imperfections to be expected? And can you sell the grille without the lights?

 

They have a photo of the broken clip on their website when I checked to order mine. Shipping ETA is Monday for delivery for me. I can post photos of how the grill looks and the imperfection when it arrives.

 

Not too sure if you've got this sorted out yet but here's some info....

I had the same thing when I called my local dealerships......I actually called all over Canada and parts of the States and got the same response from dealerships. They wouldn't sell me one because I didn't have a TRD Pro and wanted a VIN number or proof of accident as a repair work order. I'm from Canada and ended up purchasing from a place in Florida on eBay and had it shipped to me. This is directly from a Toyota Dealership ("Totota of Glendale") with genuine OEM parts. Perfect fit on my 2022 SR5 and looks amazing! I didn't want to have non OEM parts on my vehicle because I've seen letters fall off from the aftermarket kits. Hope this helps!!!

We do have them available without the lights and each discounted grille has one broken tab that is still able to be bolted down. We are including a rubber washer for this location to hold it in place properly and there have been zero issues with installation. And yes, we have the option without the raptor lights!

How is the fit with the letters being screwed in? Do they hit or rub against the back piece?

 

there was no sign of the screws coming through the back side of the plastic. In addition, the 2-sided tape is foam, a mm or so thick, which makes it stand off a bit from the back piece. The fit seemed excellent and secure to me. I’m incredibly happy I went this route.
