    Hi everyone,

Sort of new to this community but wanted to get feedback on the longevity of a 5th Gen.

I recently hit 190,000 miles and I was wondering how much is considered high mileage for my 4unner.

I keep up with the maintenance just about every 5,000 miles.

I’d like to think I’m on top of it. So far my 5th gen seems to be in great condition. Went through so many roadtrips and adventures with only many more to go.

Any feedback on how to continue to maintain longevity of my 4unner or get an idea of where it stands in terms of it’s
    mileage?

190k sounds like alot but I know with these cars it can last
    longer.

Welcome to the forums, Couple of questions regarding your 4 Runner.

What year exactly is your 5th gen?

How long have you owned it.

If pre owned do you happen to have an logs of the prior service history?

    Sure.

    Forgot to mention it’s a 2012 4unner.

    Hi there! Thank you.

    Yes so I own a 2012 Toyota 4unner SR5.
I have owned it for about 2.5 years.

I have the logs of service history. I am the second owner and it looks like the previous owner maintained service pretty well and was consistent with the maintenance.

    190 is nothing
Over 250k then we're getting somewhere

If all scheduled maintenance has been kept up with, You should be good.

If there is any question in regards to front or rear differentials, Simply change it.

Brake fluid would be one area I would ensure was good. You can never go wrong if in doubt.

My 4R is new, but I did put 10 years n a Tacoma and we have had multiple Toyota and Honda products in the family that we put 200k+ on, even back in the 80s and 90s. 200 is easy on one of these if you have kept up with maintenance.

At those miles, in addition to the regular oil changes and rotations, I assume diff/Tcase fluid has been done a couple times, radiator flush at least twice and plugs a couple times. Other things to start think bout as you go north of 200k and 10 years

    - The big worry with high mileage Toyota truck is frame rust. If you live in the rust belt keep an eye on things and watch for rust on the frame and around things like the ADD actuators
    - Transmission fluid. Toyota calls it a lifetime fill but I would do a drain and fill no less than every 100k or so personally
    - The serpentine belt. If you have never touched it I would change that soon. I don’t think there is an interval in the manual but I usually do them before 100k
    - Rubber parts in general start to dry out and fail with age as you get up to 10-15+ years. Keep an eye on the front CV boots for leaks and check the radiator hoses

Other than that just be on the lookout for the usual things that start to creep up on very high mileage cars- front wheel bearings, starter motors, water pumps etc might all go eventually. Luckily the engine internals are pretty bulletproof.

My daughter has a 2000 4 runner with 312K miles on it. I know this because, I had to replace her brake light this morning. She has driven it through High school, 6 years of college and has driven the hell out of that thing. Regular maintenance and they will last forever.
