I have been going crazy trying to find out what transmission i have. 2000 4runner limited's seemed like a really strange year. I need to replace my transmission #2 solenoid but noticed i can not find them for my 4runner. it's either 96-99 or 2001-02. my door sticker states that i have a A340F transmission. but when i look for Solenoid kits online i cant find them for a 2000.

I also noticed the transmission filter looks completely different from what i have in my 4runner.

Tacoma whip, 99 console box, tru trac., steering wheel, PWMS and HVAC control out of a 99.
Automatic transmissions available for the 96-02 T4R's are the A340E, and the A340F. the difference between the E and the F, the A340E is 2WD, the A340F is 4WD. The A340 series transmission went through a change with the valve body in 1999 or 2000, enough that it is not backwards compatible. Also it is difficult looking for parts, mostly because parts houses can't decide what to call them, the manufacturer might call it solenoid "B", and then some other parts house calls it solenoid"2" and some place else calls it something else. I know from experience that the "TCC" solenoids are a common failure for the 2000-2002 A340 transmissions, and that there is a modification for the valve body that fixes the 2nd gear harsh shift, but without a car to do road and mechanical tests on my diagnostic skills are limited.
