If you are waiting on any orders you may want to file a claim with your credit card company.

Supposedly they let all the employees go and closed up shop. The website is down and Google maps shows they as permanently closed.

Get your money back before it’s too late!

Hopefully they don't do their customers like Pelfreybilt did.

Company’s don’t typically run out of money and close down while having cash reserves to refund all pending sales. When stuff like this happens they have been using new sales money to fund materials and labor on old orders they are behind on.

    All of them.
Sadly it will probably go that way unless they had another company purchase their inventory and agreed to supply fulfillment on existing orders. It truly sucks for the end buyer. I had a buddy order a set of sliders almost 4 months ago and radio silence luckily filed a charge back through his cc and recovered. However another buddy purchased a rear ladder and propane holder from alpha foxtrot designs and they also went belly up he still is trying to get his money back on that.

Seems like quite a few companies in the customization space have been following Pelfreybilt’s exit strategy. Detours of Maine, Kustom 54, and now Shrockworks. Was actually debating going Shrockworks on my vehicle because they are/were local but glad I went RCI now! Got the day off if anyone wants me to go check out their location. Doubt it will reveal anything that’s not already here though

Too bad. They made quality stuff. I considered their sliders a couple of years ago, but went RSG for easier installation. I did have a nice SW bumper on a previous Jeep Rubicon.

More and more companies aren't surviving the pandemic.

Sad to hear. My sliders from them are great! Glad I got them in time.

I had a front bumper order from August, was supposed to be nearly complete but seems like it ain't happening. My bank won't look into the charge/refund because it has been too long now. Lesson learned I guess. I have their full set of skids, they're great.

Also, this is my first post because I am more active on other Toyota forums, just never posted here but trying everywhere to see if there is help to get money back.

I can’t imagine there’s any lesson to be learned here - you paid good money for a bumper with the expectation you would have it made and shipped to you. You couldn’t or wouldn’t have known SW would go belly up and you’d be left empty-handed.

I believe some folks were able to get their money back through claims with their CC company and PayPal, in the Pelfreybroke situation. Those who had paid with cash, or debit card got screwed.

I hope nobody here gets the shaft!

    Damn, this sucks.

If you paid with cash or a debit card, you're probably SOL, unfortunately. If you had used a credit card or PayPal, you might have a chance to recover your money. This is just based on what I recall from the Pelfreybilt situation a few years ago.

I appreciate the assurance that past me is not a total dummy. But the lesson I learned is to understand charge back/dispute policies before making large purchases like this. I never even though about a time limit, in fact it doesn't really make sense to me that my CU can do nothing... If I had gone the refund/reorder route they'd be looking into the exact same situation for the exact same amount. What I'm hearing is "We aren't obligated to help so we're not going to".

Wish I paid with PayPal because apparently they have a policy of 180 days.

Yeah I should have learned from that. I saw the situation but didn't look closely into how I could prevent it from happening to me.

I'm not totally done, my CU said no exception can be made, it's out of their hands and really up to MasterCard and "their card processor," whoever that is, I should have asked. So I called MasterCard next who was much more helpful and is trying to contact my CU for me. We will see how that goes.

My next step is to try and find out who the card processor is and ask them for an exception. Final resort is writing the CU (hopefully someone higher up sees it) to ask they request an exception from them on my behalf.

Everyone who can possibly help needs to tell me "No" before the final step - to move my account, obviously I can't afford to keep using my CU.

I hope you can recover your cash.

Funny, I actually had a few Pelfreybilt products bookmarked for my Tacoma, but my ex lost her job and I never ordered anything. That was not long before they went under, so I ended up dodging a bullet there! :D. Although, I probably would gladly trade getting screwed out of a few hundred $$ for the income we ended up losing.

@Chopper678 - what exactly was the purchase process? Did you pay with a CU credit card that is a Mastercard? If so, it sure seems Mastercard could offer you some help.

Haha yeah losing income sucks. I should be grateful I only lost a bumper. You dodged a bullet for sure and if I were to end up with PB products before they closed, I'd probably do what I could to remove their logos lol

Yep, you got it. Paid with my credit union debit card. Good point, I'm going to reach back out to them and see if they have an update, but I forgot to mention in my last post that MasterCard told me they do not handle fraud/disputes, and that the CU should do that.

Really sucks looks like they had some nice stuff. But I would never buy something with a "lead time". That just doesn't sit well with me.

Sucks to hear that they went under. The failure is solely on the owners and poor money management. A lot of companies like to pass the blame on the pandemic but don’t want to look at their own poor planning. The government was giving out money hand over fist. Lots of successful businesses were taking this and reinvesting in either their people, equipment, operations, etc. The ones that are failing bought fancy toys, went on extravagant vacations, shopping sprees, etc.
