Hi All, Just picked up my TRD Pro on Thursday and I love it. I do however feel like an idiot. I had an aftermarket remote start system installed at the dealer b/c I wasn't aware that you could actually remote start the Pro with your KeyFob. The sales guy at the dealer said nothing and now I feel like I was taken advantage of. Any thoughts on if I should keep it or have it removed and get my money back?

My issue is, I wasn’t aware it came with remote start already. I asked to have it installed, which the dealer did, but was never made aware that I didn’t need it b/c it already has it. So the question really is… do I have them remove it and restore it back to the way it was. The key fob remote start and app remote start no longer work b/c of the aftermarket one that was installed (uses a separate fob)

IMO, the dealer should have known about the OEM remote start. How the hell do you not know what a vehicle you are selling is equipped with? Make them remove it so the factory warranty will cover what it is supposed to.

My thought exactly! I’m stewing over this right now. Feel so taken advantage of.

Even the 2023 TRD Pro doesn't have THAT many features, they should have known about the remote start, thats a real shame and you should go get all your money back. Put that into something else.

Doesn’t the factory remote start require a Connected Sevices? I think that’s free for the first year but you have to pay going forward. An aftermarket remote start might be good in the long run.

Apparently you can also start it with the key fob. The dealer did get back to me and said he'll make it right. I may keep the aftermarket and just have them refund me the $. I do wonder if the key fob option only works with the subscription though????

I too love the Toyota Remote start. Yes I think I pay $8/month. I love the app as not only it allows you to remote start I can check door lock status, windows, tire psi, location, etc..

I wish I could have this new Toyota remote start system with app on my 2019 as well. 2019 connected service ended last year. :(:(:(

My remote start still works without the connected services. Not sure if its a fluke or if the fob will stop working at some point. My toyota app expired in December.

Mine (2022) starts from the factory remote/key fob with three lock button presses. Two quick ones and on the third hold it down longer.
