Hahaha! HAPE (High Altitude Pulmonary Edema), HACE (High Altitude Cerebral Edema), and altitude sickness in general have little to do with age, as far as I know. The last time I was up on Pike's Peak I saw a boy about 12-years-old with altitude sickness, and his middle aged (and out of shape) mother was doing just fine. I know sometimes when I go up to elevation I get headaches, and the next week I can go and nothing. It seems to be quite random. A few years back I went on a group ride with some of my motorcycle buddies from California up Pikes Peak, and out of 7 of us, one guy got it, and he was the most physically fit of all of us. When our scout troop would climb Mt. Whitney (14,505'), at least a couple kids in the group would get it. So again, it seems to be random, at least in my experience.

Gotcha! I have been skiing and mountain biking out west and the altitude definitely affects some people differently! Great to hear that you are enjoying the outdoors!

I mean, I get it, it goes along with the blackout look. I think it looks good and have thought about it in the past on several vehicles but... cost and practcality stopped me from pulling the trigger. To each their own - its a cosmetic upgrade more than practical upgrade unless I'm missing something.

It's completely cosmetic. Amazon price was right. Having said that, I was just curious what the local tint shop would charge for tinting the rear tail lights. Suffice it to say, sticker shock hit me real quick. I was think somewhere between $75-100.

    Nah.

    $250.

I said, "Thank you," and hung up.

I can’t stand the silver that shows up when not in use. Granted, it’s not ideal (or even illegal) to reduce the brightness of them. For me I want it to be darker but keep the same brightness for driving and braking.

HikeIt X9 installed, and it vaporized my skepticism. Found out that the remapped throttle response directs Mission Control greater than just a heavy foot can. Totally improves the driving feel (no added power; just feel of course). Still experimenting with settings. HI 9 is ludicrous; great acceleration but too touchy in normal driving. Auto is good for now. Any suggestions on settings?

That seems a bit high. How are they tinting them? I don't think a film would hold up for long.

I had the Dasaita unit previously. I grew tired of the issues with it, so I switched to the Pioneer DMH-WT7600NEX. I originally used the Metra mount. The trim piece would not fit as tight to the dash as I would have liked and the mount being plastic, was flimsy. I decided to try using the factory metal mount to see if it would work. It worked without needing any modifications. The unit sits farther into the dash. There is a trim piece which slides over the mounting area for the screen after it has been attached. This piece will not fit now. There isn’t enough space between the screen and dash surround for it to slide in. It doesn’t bother me. So far I have no complaints with the performance of it.DF04F6FF-70B4-4FEA-BF77-C762B2580251.jpg

Good question. But considering they are the ONLY tint shop in town, they can sorta get away with it. Other shops are nearby, but have drive a short piece.

    OAN:

Got my Cali Raised LED grille lights in. Choose the dark amber ones. Pretty straight forward install.

4runner lifestyle third brake light. Lights up and stays solid. Slightly brighter than oem. Matches the tailights

I'm just curious why there is no flashing 3rd brake light aftermarket for 5th gen. Is it illegal to have flashing 3rd brake light?

I've had my Rav4 rear ended while I was at a red light completely stopped. May be if I had a flashing brake light may be I could have pressed the brake again to flash the driver to show that the traffic is stopped for the red light?

I honestly don't know but the odd thing is that some of the reviews on the 4runner lifestyle site say these blink 3 times and Stay solid. The one I purchased from the same website doesn't blink. It's stays solid and is very bright. It also has an extra wire that can be tapped into the reverse light and act as a 3rd reverse light. I just zip tied the additional wire and tucked it into the hole since I didn't feel like tapping anything or running the wire. Too cold for that but maybe I'll revisit in the summer time. I know in my state any flashing or blinking red light is for emergency vehicles only. Regardless, I've seen plenty with it.

@SnakeDoc I definitely notice the throttle response difference. I will update once I put more miles on the tune. But it feels more responsive and peppy.
