Hello folks..my emergency (parking)brake don't work. I just cannot lift the handle at all. Before i go under the rig..what are the potential things to look for..cable..seized bracket..?? Thanks.

Thanks for posting this. Been looking on here for an answer for a while. I've got the same issue, no clue where to start looking. Hopefully someone knows.

Get under there and take a look! cable and bracket run behind rear axle gear case. You could also take off the plastic center console and look inside there for any potential probs. Those consoles just pop off and snap back on easily.

So got under there over the weekend. Noticed a bit of rust build up (thank you NE winters) so I whacked it with some PB. Went to pull it that night and it gave a little bit of movement, still tough. Worked it here and there this past week and went to pull it last night noticed that I needed MINIMAL effort. I'm talking I can pull this thing and engage the parking brake light with one finger. Is this normal??? Anyone run into this?

    Stock for now!
I had the same issue with my 99 mustang. Turns out the caliper was the issue where it connects the arm was seized. When I replaced the caliper with a new one everything worked well and yes the cable went on too easy and seamed to have a little slack like that. Nothing tightening the cable wouldn't fix.

I had the same issue on my 4runner and it turned out to be seized bell cranks, where the cable meets the drum.
