I’m looking for information for a roof rack. I have a friend who has a 21 4Runner and she wants to put a roof rack on it. She said that she’s seen some that swing down for easier loading which would be perfect for her. Can anyone help me out with any information ?

Not sure of a roof rack that swing's down but you can start off here too. https://trail4runner.com/2017/12/04/5th-gen-4runner-roof-racks/ This website is really good, the post is a little old now but there has been some new ones in the market and some might have been discontinued. I personally run a Gobi Ranger rack with no rise and love it. I guess it depends on what she wants to do with her's. I'm thinking she might have gotten confused with a RTT with the swing down portion to climb up to the tent?

I've also never heard of a rack that swings down, and with how they mount to the roof, I'm not picturing how it could happen. But that certainly doesn't mean it hasn't been (or couldn't be) done. But another thing to keep in mind is that quite a few companies (like the "Gobi" in this photo) make rear hatch ladders, which if she's OK climbing, makes loading and unloading stuff way easier.

I would encourage your friend to join and search around on here and ask the question herself. There's a lot of variables involved, not the least of which is her intentions for use. She's not going to get much advice seeking it third party.

Yeah I seen them when I was up in Canada called Dropracks from Dropdown.com, Not a lot I can say about them because I was looking for something else at the time (New camp stove to replace one I had that quit while camping) but I did see that they had a canoe on it with a cooler.
