TPMS automatic relearn on 2022 4Rs?

Does the '22 have this capability? DOHC97 on this forum got a new set of wheels/tires and his '22 4R just recognized the new sensors after putting the wheels on. (Very nice wheels BTW) Is this just a fluke or have others had this happen?

 

If he got Toyotas latest TPMS sensors the system will self detect. If memory serves me - and to identify the new ones they're said to have a rubberized stem, where the earlier models had a steel stem. If, memory serves me?

 

Amazing Tire Rack had those sensors. I wonder if I'd be so lucky.

Ordered tires,wheels and sensor package from tirerack for my 2022. I'll let you know how it goes when they come in. I'm hoping the truck will recognize them

 

Any updates on if the 4R learns the new TMPS on it's own?

 

interested party here... im getting new tires and rims before winter and would really like to know how to proceed with TPMS sensors (go with OEM latest yota or what aftermarket ones work with auto relearn).

 

You can remove your current sensors and put them in your new rims. It's really that simple, no need for replacements or programing. If the tire shop says otherwise they are incorrect.

The only programming that needs to happen is to reset sensor location, the same way you do after a tire rotation.

 

I installed new sensors (PMV-E000, from TPMS.com) with my new wheels/tires. The system did learn the new sensors. After you initiate the process you need to drive around for awhile. I think it was about a half-hour for me.

 

Just had my first service and rotation and the dealer told me it will learn on it's own. The dealership had messed with my pressure and one tire was a little low on the left front. I put some air in it and it said I had put air in the left rear. I called them and they said to just drive for at least 20 minutes and it will re-learn where the wheel is.

 

Look in your menu. There is a setting something to the affect of "set wheel location".

 

Correct, at least for the ORP it’s in the menu on the dash, I have switched from factory set to the set I had on my taco and back to factory, and both times the different sensors were read after selecting change tires and a short drive.

 

I wish my 2018 would display the individual tire pressures like the late models.

 

I love the TPMS on the 4Runner. It is so easy when it comes to rotations and swaps. My Tundra on the other hand is a royal PITA.

 

You'd think with all the aftermarket plug-n-play electronic gadgetry offered for our trucks, i.e. throttle controllers, anytime fog light switches, etc, someone would have figured out a TPMS sensor individual display fix...

 

How did it work ?
Did you do it yourself per the manual or did you need o take it to a shop with the new tpms ?
