Thanks! Snatched it up for $50 with brackets for both round and flat shaped crossbars and pads for kayak. See what I mean? lol

Me? I don't hate baskets. I have a full length one on my truck. I just think the little one looks a bit silly. Other than a gas can or rotten carcass, what else are you gonna carry in it that won't fit in the vehicle? I ask the OP but he hasn't answered, unless I missed that part. He has a boat and a camper and I am just a bit bewildered wondering why he would want that little basket. He said he got it for a good price and I am guessing there is not much demand for those, but I could be wrong.

    I'm neither pro-basket nor anti-basket. I'm ambivalent about baskets.

Having said that, have you looked at the sheer number of brands and models - all of which are substantially similar - on etrailer (or the cargo related website of your choosing)? I would wager based on the number of manufacturers offering similar units, demand is very high.

Additionally, I see those things go fast in the used arena; and I personally sold my Yak in about 20 minutes on CL to the first guy that answered the ad, further corroborating my theory that there is high demand for same.

Oh yeah, here's my basket (and my interior) on our cross country move...

I have a full length Baja with sunroof cutout. Comes in handy for my kayaks.

    upload_2017-6-23_8-4-33.jpg

Maybe its the optics of the setup Yakima choose to use for their product....long vehicle, short basket. Looks a bit silly to me on this vehicle (see below), that'all I am saying.

And I was referring to the demand for that particular basket (since he got such a good deal), not baskets in general (since I have one myself).

You obviously found a use for yours during your cross-country move, I get it, they can be useful. I asked the guy what he planned to carry in it. That's all. I don't think he replied yet.

You crack me up dude! That pic you attached is pretty ridiculous looking without the extension on a huge truck like that. I like your Baja Rack. Truck looks good. Another reason why people like myself go for these smaller baskets is bc we aren't able to afford the full length roof rack but still need the extra space in the car. If I could I would have a Gobi or Frontrunner on mine already.

I did not doctor up that photo of that little ittty bitty rack. That is the photo on the Yakima website from the link the guy posted when he said he got the rack for a really good price.

So you agree, it looks a bit silly right on that big truck?

I am not banging on anyone that cannot afford a full length rack, my kids went days without eating so I could afford mine, so I know the feeling (joke...don't turn me in...and my kids are 31 and 19). And thanks for the compliment regarding my truck.

I was actually pretty straight forward on saying a basket was not a top priority for me but after coming across this one it was almost a no brainer despite not even having a pressing need for it.

I don't get your constant questioning on why myself or anyone would get X basket for X price. Who cares? Each person is entitled to have their own likes and wants for their own vehicle. Don't see the need for such constant criticism. Seems like you were just waiting to show off your basket or something. Maybe not, but it seems that way.

Lots of things fit in the vehicle. But, for example, if I am able to avoid putting dirty, bloody fishing gear or dirty, smelly camping gear inside, why should I not do it? Because the rack "looks silly"? And there is an extension for this rack that would make it a lot longer....

Yes I've seen that picture on their website before. It does look funny on that huge truck but it still serves a purpose for many people. I will probably be getting one with an extension, or something very similar. It looks very different on a 4Runner.

Don't be so sensitive. And a few other people have agreed, on the picture provided by the Yakima, it doesn't look right but on another vehicle, it might. And like you said, "Who cares?" Why do you even care about my questions. Not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, it's just banter, discussion, talking.

If I wanted to show off my basket, I would have much earlier. I only posted my pic when someone asked. There are many people that don't like the basket I choose. I am not going to get sensitive if someone posts their opinion.

It's all good. I think I am on the only one that said I hope your family emergency is over and all is well, so I can't be all bad, right?

All our ski gear and a bunch of crap we decided to take. It makes it more comfortable with 4 adults inside. Wouldn't go to mountains without one.

Haha damn dude how much stuff is in there?? I had about 500 pounds loaded today in the back of my 4Runner and it didn't even sag. I can't imagine how much weight must be back there.

I love that rack so much. It looks like it should have come like that from the factory.

I didn't weigh it. A metric fuckton is my best guess. Basically the entire cargo area, back seats folded forward, and front pass seat were stuffed floor to ceiling with shit. All our clothes we sealed into vacuum bags and those were stuffed into voids. There was not enough room for a pack of cigarettes when it was loaded up.

At that time, my wife had a Prius. This was her cargo area, same deal. We sold our house and almost everything we owned and just moved west with what could fit in those 2 vehicles.

Man, I've derailed the fuck out of this thread. Sawry.....

If you had a bigger roof rack, you could have probably fit two packs of smokes inside. Kidding. Chill. LOL

Functional and looks good. What size it this one and does it attach to your crossbars or rails ?

It's the LoadWarrior with 18" middle extension. You'll have to Google the size specs. Attaches to cross bars.

Thank you. If I have done my research correctly the rack with the 18" extension is roughly 32 lbs. That subtracted from the 132 lb capacity of the crossbars gives you approximately 100 lbs you can safely load on top. Sound right to you ?

    As promised....

I ended up going with the Rola for the time being. Used it for the first time today. Perfect for throwing the stroller up there and not jamming it somewhere between the 5 car seats inside lol.
