So back in Oct of last year I joined here and posted about getting either a 4R or Taco Pro. The 17's 4R Pro's were not landing until the spring, so I jumped on a 17 Taco Pro in Cement. The Taco has been a great truck with no issues that a lot of guys have had since the 3rd gens came out. A few months ago I started searching for a 4R Pro in Cement. Knowing how hard getting a 4R Pro can be, it was a constant checking of Cars.com, sending emails, and cold calling dealers up to 500 miles away. I missed out on a few that buyers backed out on, etc. I was even going to drop a deposit down on one that a few dealers in PA had a allocation for, but were not on freight, or possibly even built yet. The whole deal has been much harder then with the Taco. I got lucky with it in the right place at the right time. I had contacted a dealer in Virginia Beach VA last week on a tip they might have a 4R Pro Cement arriving soon. Back and forth with a salesperson for a day then got a call from the sales manager saying nope he did a dealer trade with a Landcruiser and the 4R had been sold. Yesterday I get a call from the same dealer saying a Cement Pro just got off the truck and if I wanted it. I immediately threw down a deposit, and am planning on doing a 16 hr road trip Monday with the family to pick her up. I am trading the Taco in, so still working on a value before hitting the road. I know the only thing I will really miss owning the Taco is the bed. I bought a used Harbor Freight folding trailer to replace that when hauling the dirt bikes. It's been a fun roller coaster ride to say the least.

Congratulations, I too traded a 2016 Tacoma, but unlike you, I had every issue others are reporting. I am so happy to be rid of that thing, my new 4R tows better, feels better, is better. Peace!

That is a sweet looking truck. I have an '16 SR5 in white, that I love, but the cement TRDs are really, really sharp. I traded in a 2011 Tacoma on my '16 SR5 and yes, a few times I missed not having a truck with a bed (great for buying mulch in bulk, for example) but I am very happy with my 4Runner. Just curious, 16 hour road trip, from where to where? Anyways, congrats on the new truck.

Cool. I am from Pittsburgh but live in Newport News (which is about 30 minutes before Virginia Beach). I know the trip well.

Tip - Avoid Washington DC and through Winchester, VA to pick up US-17 South. Take 17 South to Fredericksburg then head south on 95. DC can be quicker when there is no traffic, but rarely is there NOT an accident and a backup.

Oh, I see. If you are not from the area of Ohio that is near Pittsburgh, then I'm sure there are better routes than what I've suggested.

Fake news........I got a call from the dealer this evening saying there was a mistake made, and there was a deposit put on it months ago.... All I can say is it's completely screwed up. The salesman checked the computer when it arrived at the dealer, and nothing showed any deposit, etc. Someone screwed up, and it really does not surprise me. The whole buying a Pro thing is so unorganized. Stealerships at their finest. At this point I am not really sure if I am going to continue to pursue one or not. It's turning out to be a real freaking headache..

Which dealership? I bought my TRD Pro from Charles Barker in Virginia Beach and had a great experience.

Wouldn't put it past a salesmen making something up like that for someone willing to pay more.

Deposit put down yesterday on yet another Cement Pro that is inbound. Fingers crossed that the second time will be a charm....The dealer is much closer 4:30 hrs away, so I have that going for me.:)
