The silver interior trim pieces drive me bananas it's the only thing I'd really really like to change. My options seem like the overlays which I'm not crazy about. Painting which doesn't seem like a bad option I'm just not sure what paint to use to make sure it holds up or buying all the pieces I would need that would go to a nightshade edition assuming they would all fit from the appropriate year. Does anybody have any insight into removing all these pieces including the silver trim pieces on the doors and what they think the best option is. I don't hear a lot of good things about the overlays. If anyone has pictures that'd be awesome

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.

OK today it's in the 60's. I parked the Runner in the sun for a while and here's the results. First, the criticism. The fit is pretty good but silver showed around some of the edges. The pieces should have been a little bigger to cover that. I used flat black model paint and covered anything that would show then stuck the covers on. No instructions at all so I just wiped all surfaces with alcohol. Other than that I like the results and think it's much better than all that silver. By the way I had previously wrapped the area above the glove box matte black. I'll probably get the cover for the shifter area next. I also did a mountain thing around the SR5 badges.DSCN5801.jpg DSCN5802.jpg DSCN5804.jpg DSCN5803.jpg DSCN5805.jpg

    Looks good!!!
AJT makes a part that totally replaces that steering wheel piece that I'll be getting for mine pretty soon. I just got a set for my Tacoma. I had those pieces that you have now, but I didn't like them. So I got these, and I'll be getting another set for my 4Runner.

I didn't want to mess with removing/replacing pieces just wanted to cover what's there. The AJT ones are probably better quality but these will work fine for me.

I really dislike fake carbon fiber. The overlays I used are the only matte black ones I found. To each his/her own.

I too have bought many of these blackout plastic from either Cartrim home, 4Runner lifestyle or even EBay all in Matt Black. Only the gear shift piece didn’t 100% fit perfectly as it pops up some in the front by the 4WD knob. But has anyone ever removed them and I wonder how bad it is to clean up the double sided tape residue?

Some scratches that would have been on the door itself, but no issues with sticking or anything. They haven't budged an inch.

Thanks. How do you like your radio? I would love to upgrade mine but so many bad reviews from almost any head unit, regardless of price.

i no longer have that Kenwood. I now have an Alpine ilx-f509. i like it, takes some getting used to the floating screen. Works just fine with no issues. Thought about doing the 2020+ conversion, but would have to go through selling the Alpine first.
