I’m going to have so much power now!

They weren’t that expensive so why not. Also picked up a rear wiper arm because I’m a dummy and broke it. I’m a dummy again because I ordered the wrong USB charge port but I’ll use it up front and ordered the right one for the rear.

Lastly ordered the footwell lights from a Limited because I bought the harness from Old Red.

Wife got them for Christmas. Tested them with a boat battery I have in the garage for winter. Like Electroboy said, be sure to test them before installing.

Wove some Paracord stuff for the 4R. I don't carry other keys very often so this way I can snap on a key ring as needed but otherwise I have a nice slim daily carry for the key / fob... And I never liked that welfare vinyl hatch pull....

Also found this 5.11 Velcro backed pocket which sticks nicely to the headliner and allows carry of a small knife, light, money, similar stuff...

2014 Neglected by the previous owners 2020 is an abused former rental... 2023 New I've been buying above my pay grade ☹️
I did a practice run of Meguiar's Headlight Coating on my 2020 TRDOR. There were half a dozen stone chips and quite a few scratches presumably from car washing brushes. I did not do all of the steps of preparation, I just cleaned with 90% isopropyl alcohol, used Meguiar's Plastix plastic polish and cleaned again.

I tried two masking techniques and two spraying techniques. The RAV4s and Prius I'm practicing for do not have the top ledge like the 4Runner does, that's a good thing. On my driver's side headlight, I kept a 10° to 20° angle, even on the top ledge. That led to runs. On the passenger side, I kept to a 10° to 20° angle from the front and the coating on the top surfaces were strictly at 70° to 80° in a way, it was like an overspray situation for the top of that lens.

I used three coats, 5 minutes between the first two and seven minutes before the last. It filled the surface scratches wonderfully, did absolutely nothing for the chips as they are still optically quite visible, but have been filled a bit and are less jagged. I guess I could have cleaned those out with a pick set instead of just using alcohol to rinse them. By not using very fine sandpaper, the degradation that started to occur on the passenger side lens is still quite visible but now, more at an angle.

Something else should be noted, the spray I used is over 3 years old and has been sitting unused in a temperature unstable garage. I have since repurchased a can days prior to the price doubling on Amazon and some other sites from just under $9 to over $18.

They are noticeably clearer and much more beautiful. I normally use silicone polishes on headlights and windows so that water and dirt do not stick as much and there is a little UV protection. While the silicone polish adds some sparkle, this is just a remarkable improvement and I'm at the 25-hour mark now. Supposedly fully cured although it has been extremely humid in my area.

I do have a lot of materials from my guitar refinishing days. I will be using polishing compounds and working my way to 2,000 grit for the more degraded Japanese made RAV4 lenses.

As for masking techniques, there are reasonable size gaps around the entire lens housing that sections of newspaper can easily be tucked in. It was much easier that way rather than taping around the entire thing.

Added new wheels and tires last week. Method MR312s with Mickey Thompson Baja Boss 285/70R/17s. Had to trim the fender a bit and relocate the inner fender well. Going to replace the 500 lb. spring with 650lb. next week and add another 1-inch lift in front. Added the Cali Raised stealth bumper with light bar and Warn winch. Still working on the accessories board to wire everything up.

Added ICS dash mount with power USB plug. Install itself wasn’t difficult, just getting the dashboard back in was frustrating, as two tension tabs for screen section. OEM wiring harness clips are all colour coded, so very easy. Got this mainly for a mounting option for my phone. I should’ve wired the cable internally, but may still do it once I decide on and set up the phone mount.

Nice job! If I were ever to get a dash mount that's the one I'd go with. I've been looking at them recently. Not only is it a good place to mount electronics, but it also looks like a convenient flat surface area to set things (not while driving), like contact lens case or mug, etc...the kind of things that you usually want a very flat surface for.

Nice! This was 12”+ of snow last year with the Falkens. Easy peasy.

How is that wheel / tire combo working out for you? I really want to try 255s but am hesitant because I also have 8.5” wide wheels and am concerned with issues when airing down off road

It has been working great. 8.5" is the widest wheel Falken recommends for the 255's. I did that research before I bought the wheels. I am in the 255 gang for life, love this tire size.

Good to know. How low do you typically air down?

Yep! Once I tried 255's, nothing else has ever appealed to me. I regret that I didn't research enough that the 17's come in a good 255 when I recently bought my KM3's. 255/85R16's were my go-to tire size for many years.
