    Finally got my winch installed
Here’s the story, I had a gen 2 Tacoma that I bought with an ARB front bumper and Warn M8000. When I traded it in on my 20 SR5 Premium, I kept the winch.
I had installed a SSO slimline some months ago along with 1” spacers from Cornfed at all 4 corners.
I was happy with the spring rate, though the shocks could have been better.
I didn’t want to sag the front (stock springs sagged 1/4” from the SSO bumper without winch)
I got a deal on a slightly used Eibach suspension with 4 shocks and front springs set for 1.8”, and no extra weight.
I really didn’t want to over spring and the more you lift the less down travel.
I figure with winch and bumper it sags1/2” at most with the new setup.
I’m super happy with the ride so far.
    A79ABFBA-672C-413F-AB98-80F23D6FC6DC.jpg 9D34CB29-B80B-43DB-923D-7434984B085E.jpg 0CC6F7B0-84D9-49DE-AD7E-A3B20C0AF426.jpg BBAECB2E-B1D4-4735-95FD-3D6B1596CB55.jpg 1DA2CF3F-53FD-44C5-A0F2-683D80958A4B.jpg 34FAB2B8-6593-4AEC-904D-29BF266E9FD6.jpg 8A947E30-1282-4706-AA0F-08C901CF69CD.jpg
I drilled an access hole in the plastic shroud so I can reach the control box to plug in the controller
I can reach the winch clutch through the front of the bumper
I stretched it out over 3 days
I was able to install the winch just by removing the bumper cover and the cross support for hood latch, which was good because I did all this alone and I would have needed help to lift winch/bumper into place

Also, I ordered some of the plastic push clip things, it seems that if you remove and replace them a couple times, some of them don't grab as well, and a couple had fallen out.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
I'm gluing some stuff into place that should help to keep the cover for one of my trunk light housings in place. I accidentally broke two of the tabs that hold the clips, so I'm trying to replace the tabs by gluing a couple of little things in their place.

Hey! I want my money back! I moved to CO hoping to have beautiful, deep snow like you do, and all I got was the wet, barely covering the driveway stuff in my photo two posts above yours. And bone dry on Christmas. :( You're apparently not in the Springs.

    I'm about 15-20 minutes from Denver Airport..:D:D

You might get good snow Jan / Feb. I think last year Feb we got about 2 feet of snow.:p

Even after a light snow if you go to an easy trail like Switzerland trail near Boulder you will be surprised how much snow trails will get. Highly recommend going on a weekend morning when the snow is dry yet there are people to help when needed.

This happened to me a few days ago, passenger wiper not clearing the centre part and only on the middle height of the windshield. I only have 4,500 kms on the truck. I looked to see if ice was distorting it, manually pressed just to flip blade back forth, used windshield wiper fluid poured directly on it, but nothing. Now that it warmed up a bit here (Toronto) it clears fine. WTF? :annoyed:

Dropped the 4Runner off to get the Kenda's mounted and balance. Also, getting the TPMS sensors programmed to the truck. Pics this afternoon.

It's going to get cold again, so try reseating the inserts if you've still got your original parts. It worked for me on cold days. You can also replace the inserts for cheaper in the future.

Thx. It’s all original since it’s basically brand new, as I would just go to dealer and ask for warranty work at this stage. I’ll take a look at video.

As part of my adding in a Switch-Pro 9100, thought I’d get the SDHQ battery terminals. Build quality is excellent (should be at this price point), but for f-ck sakes … isn’t the greatest fit for reusing existing cable hookups. The height of these is just too tight for my 2022. If I understood this I wouldn’t have bothered with it. My fault for not understanding the application, but I’m sure many folks don’t look into it at that level. They should be clearer of compatibility issues. Hopes this helps others for awareness.

Great size choice! Falken is coming out with the new Wildpeak RT tire in that size supposedly this month. I am debating between that and the Toyo OC MT's, but my next tire will definitely be a 255/80R17.

I've always liked tall skinnies. My favorite tires by far have been my 255/85R16 BFG KM2's on my Tacos. And don't people often have to do a BMC with the 285/70R17's? That's one modification I'm not willing to do. I'm fine with trimming the wheel wells or removing mud flaps, but not the BMC.

I see. I didn’t have to do a BMC on mine with the 285s and I only have a 2 inch lift in the front one and a half in the back.

I also think your size in my size equates to 33 inches tall

I have a 2" lift front and rear, but it's my understanding that lifts (unless you go higher than 3") don't have any effect on what will rub and what won't. You're right that 255/80R17's are usually about a 33.3" tire, but thinner tires do better about not rubbing than wider ones.

I too have no issues with body mount rub running 285's. You can even push them to about a -10 offset if you have a 7.0" or 7.5" wheel width and your caster adjusted to around +3.5 degrees or above. *Fender liner mod is required.

Besides, 285's are already "skinnies" in my book.

33x10.50r17 Kenda Klever RTs mounted today. Initial impressions are they ride very well for an E load and are pretty quiet. No issues with rubbing.

In the past week and a half, I’ve installed a Pedal Commander, Seat Risers, and Suomi Springs front and rear. It feels like a totally different vehicle now. I really like it.

I have those same battery terminals. I will have to look how I have mine setup. I don’t recall any issues on install but things were tight. I will say I did have 1 issue on a trail. Found the terminal connectors were not tight enough. These things you can crank on with a small socket set (don’t go crazy as the bolts will sheer)

Good to consider. I know they have torque settings, but my torque wrench didn’t click on negative side so resorted to sticking with feel. With the wires pulling down from tension, I’ll back off the bolts on the posts.

Today was nothin overly special but a little love nonetheless …

    1) Oil and filter change
    2) New AEM dry flow filter
    3) New Cabin filter
    4) vacuumed out the inside
    5) Removed the seat jackers. Did not care for those. Gave ‘em a fair shake of time and ultimately wasn’t for me.

Installed these new courtesy lights today. Super easy install, and are way brighter than expected.

Be very careful with these questionable Chinese projection lights. There have been numerous cases of these being shorted out internally, and since the 12 volts supplied to them is not fused (it’s supplied by the Main Body ECU), you wind up destroying the MB ECU. $$$ to replace it.
So if you really want them check the resistance of the LED device with a multimeter to make sure it’s not a dead short before installing.

See this thread for some background.
