What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Making sure my 4R is doing well at the parking lot...

 

I was thinking the same, and he never mentioned which gen 4runner. 5th gen is impossible. I've accidentally tried it.

 

For the first time in my life, I crashed into my house, and never felt so defeated haha.

I forgot my yakima roof pod was on the runner while I was backing my little motorcycle trailer into the garage, luckily the boat was in the garage as well, so I wasn't backing it in as fast as I usually do. Heard a slight crunch and knew exactly what happened, yup, I'm an idiot. Thank god it just took off a little bit of stucco off the house, didn't crack the pod, and most importantly no damage to the 4runners' roof and trackbars.

Lesson learned LOL.

 

Got the Cali raised low profile ditch lights on today. Install went as advertised except I did not use the extra short bolts provided. I cut down the original bolts that come with the lights. They are stainless (not zinc plated) and the larger metric bolt head locks into the light bracket unlike the smaller standard bolt head which just spins in the bracket. Just needed two metric nylon locking nuts.

I readjusted my passenger side windshield wiper. I think something popped out of place when I was dumb and tried engaging the windshield wipers on an icy day right after turning the 4Runner on. It wasn't wiping in the center of the passenger side windshield anymore. I popped the windshield wiper housing off, removed the rubber insert, checked the metal shafts in each side of the rubber insert, and carefully put it all back together. It seems to be wiping evenly now. Yay. I also did a little bit of 4HI on the ice. It's icy here in NJ.

My build continues, purchased a Tom Woods double cardan driveshaft with heavy duty wall and 1310 u-joints.
Install will be sometime after the new year.

It's not a white Christmas right now, but in a couple minutes it will be!

 

Installed my Super Springs Suomos on the front. Rears are on backorder. What should have been a 30 minute easy peasy installation turned into an hour + long mess. With installation only partially resembling the YouTube videos I watched, and the printed instructions.
Vehicle is a bone stock 2020 TRD ORP. Swing arm now is in contact with the Suomos. Ride is much firmer, very little nose dip when brakeing. I like the feel much better now. It will be interesting to see how the rears affect the ride.

For those who may be considering doing this. The instructions saying to lower the swing arm if Suomos won't go into position to allow screwing in(Mine wouldn't), I found it much easier to cut the bolt/threaded stud. The bolt is more than twice as long than the threaded portion on the OEM Bump stop. I end up cutting almost .8" off the bolt to allow it to be fully screwed into place.

We pulled the camper to TN, 4R pulled our camper very well. I think it pulls better than my Tacoma with this trailer.

I was hesitant too. I had the body shop debadge when the truck was in for other work. Mine is 2019 not garaged in the CA sun, so I think you would be okay. If there's ghosting, you could always get new plastic letters and reapply them. I actually liked the look of the badges, but they were cheesy quality and I didn't just want to cover them up with some other band aid that would need changing later. Quality, expensive truck shouldn't have cheap plastic letters that start peeling after three years.

It’s 3520 dry, we travel light so maybe 3800-3900 loaded for the week. Have a R3 wd hitch, redarc brake controller, s4 and kept it max 70mph most of the way. May add bags down the road, going to put some dobinsons suspension under it soon so we will see how that does.

 

I like it! I think it looks much better slick, especially on a black vehicle. Mine is a silver truck with silver lettering, I don't think I'd get as effective a change. lol

 

it finally warmed up enough for me to get some heat going in the garage,got my new (to me) Eibach springs and shocks installed yesterday.
Today is winch install day.

 

I would paint the calipers red to match the springs, just my 10 cents do to inflation. Nice work.
