If one light takes a 7.5 amp fuse then

    Quick electrical question

I’m installing 5 Baja Desigb LP6 lights and have a question

    one light is 7.5 amps
Would 2 lights going to the same switch then take a 15 amp fuse?

Im running the wires to a 6 gang auxbeam controller.

ideally I’d like to run 3 LP6 lights to one switch. So would I just use a 30 amp fuse? I know 7,5x3 is not 30 but didn’t know if there is a 25 amp fuse

A fuse blows at the amperage stated (give or take).

But first, you should pick the wire gauge that will allow the total needed amperage without melting. After that, you pick a fuse to protect the wiring from melting (based on how much the wire can safely pass).

Then dont run that wiring into the vehicle to connect to a switch. I doubt that auxbeam controller can pass 30 amps. Might be wrong, but that’s a lot of amps running through a switch. Instead you should use a relay. Did your lights come with a harness?

Be careful working on electrical! Very easy to ruin your electrical system. Think very carefully about what will happen if you make connections and what you connect it to.

No. The fuse number is the amperage rating it will open/ pop/ blow. Not at what the equipment is running at.
If this were the case, our alternators would have to put out several hundreds of amps.

So are tapping into a fuse to run your Baja lights, or are you using it to activate a relay?

Hey thanks for that. Not only did you teach me something but you made me realize that maybe taking on a wiring project involving wiring 5 baja design LP 6 light from the roof maybe isnt the best job for me to take on. I absolutely never knew that the fuse was for the wire not the light. I so appreciate you taking the time to educate me on that.
