We have an 2002 4Runner and the open door light just came on and stays on. I am guessing that there is a door ajar sensor that has gone bad. I was trying to figure out how it would be best to determine which of the passenger doors is the problem or possibly the rear hatch.

I did notice that the door ajar light on the dash stays on even when the car is off / key removed.

    Any ideas?

Hey! Check that your rear lift gate is fully latching shut. I noticed the same light sensor on the dash staying on but noticed while driving it would almost flicker on and off. Then I realized that back door must not be fully engaging the lock. So I just closed her a little harder and light FINALLY went off. My plastic floor mat can sometimes slide back just enough to obstruct it. However, i've since noticed it need to be locked manually now, instead of locking with the rest of the doors with the power button. So i'm thinking my latch is still sticking so that's to be determinded BUT I hope maybe your lighting issue is as simple as re-closing your rear lift gate.
