Hello, I need help with my 2005 4Runner limited V8.
It failed smog so I had to replace the pump, secondary exhaust changed all injector gaskets. It finally passed smog but still those pesky lights come on. P1445 code. Yet everything is working.
    Any thoughts other then scraping?

Its your SAIS failing, finally - secondary air injection system. A bypass in the exhaust to warm up your cats quicker after sitting cold for a while. The 2UZ is notorious for this, just a matter of when you experience it. Pretty much have 4 options:

    1. https://hewitt-tech.com/product/secondary-air-injection-system-bypass-kit-g23v47h8/ buy and install
    2. go onto T4R.org and find @slyfox75. DM him about a kit he makes to do the same thing. If i recall he sold them for less than $100
    3. Toyota OEM route with Toyota prices, somewhere to the tune of $3-4k
    4. Scrap, which unless there are many other egregious issues with the runner, we'd all advise against.

These are good vehicles, but some issues take more to correct. I did option 1 a couple years ago, havent had the code since. Just make sure to follow the directions TO THE T.

Thanks so much. So far I’ve spent 1500. It’s a great vehicle other than these lights. Then the fact if I leave them the 4Runner speed limitations kick in and I can’t drive over 50mph.

Options 1 or 2 may get you to option 4 fast depending on your state.

CA is notorious for big fines for illegal emission mods.

Thanks, yeah I don’t need any hefty fines. I have read that the bypass can be hidden but pretty risky.
