What has worked for you after a lift and diff lowering for a skid plate that has a access for both the oil filter and oil drain plug.

@Shnook718 Got a killer deal for my brand new RSG Front Skid Plate from someone on OfferUp haha. I really like how beefy it looks compared to other brands. I am sure competitors skid plates will do just fine but really dig the look of RSG skids.

As for the diff drop comments, I know very talented YouTuber has proved that diffdrop is not needed. But I still think that one person test could miss some aspect of it.

Doesn't all well named skids are good after lift? RSG, RCI, C4, etc.. some use factory support brackets and some require to remove factory support and have their own reinforcement. I would look at if one has KDSS buy KDSS supported skids and those who don't have KDSS buy non KDSS skids.

I would also look at material where Aluminum is light weight but if it got hit and damage you buy another one vs if you buy steel its heavy but if you hit it and damage you repair it, paint it and reuse it.

I don't have much knowledge, but thought of sharing what I think. Happy to learn from senior members.

I did a diff drop to save me some headaches of possibly tearing the cv boot or damaging anything else. I just did it for preventative measures. I know eventually i will have to replace cv boots for wear and tear.

The diff drop is super cheap and easy to install. Not sure how its a waste of money and time. I mean everything we purchase for our rigs is going to cost time and money. Right?

Id rather spend my money on something to add vs something to repair.

It’s $40 to save some potential headache, relax. If someone can’t afford the diff drop they wouldn’t be lifting their rig.

I plan on getting a set from C4. I have them currently on my Tacoma and have been very pleased with them and C4's customer service.

Not crazy but the differential was at an angle. So it serves a purpose. It wasn't expensive and it was literally like a 30 min install ( the car was already on the lift getting my suspension adjusted). I did it because it was recommended.

so what if he/she decides to go to 34's?

replacement of a cvboot can cost upwards of $150 and adding on labor.

$40 for a diff drop. hmm...

I did it to avoid any potential issues with the needle bearing. So far I’m happy with it. I’m not crying over $40:D

Bruhhhhhh... i have no clue how crazy they are, but its $40 bucks. LOL. I dont need a diff drop I get it. But brother i got $40 bucks to spare so I bought it and got it installed. You are not going to convince me to remove it nor change it. why dont you educate me on why I should remove it?

I have found that it’s useful to listen to all the viewpoints in the room and consider their perspectives and experiences when making a decision, rather than just listening to the loudest voice.

If you go with the diff drop make sure you get skids that fit ok with it (and KDSS if that applies). They should come with spacers for mounting.

I have C4, but no diff drop and no KDSS. Oh, and +1 as to C4 customer service, they are top notch.

    cheers
    Mike

The one I install came with the lift kit, so I was like ok it here. I know tiker said there was no need, he also said it didn't hurt anything. Some would say it keeps oil off of the diff gears, but the force of the rotating gear throws the oil everywhere.

It’s kinda like insurance, you probably don’t need it but it’s good to have, just in case. ;)
