    Some people I know have onboard air, and with some research I have done, I think I can get the same task done with the portable versions (Im not a person who goes wheeling every weekend or every other weekend. Once in a while when friends are in town, but I more often take my rig to some dispersed campsites that have easy to medium tech trails.)

    I have been looking at some compressors, ARB portables, EZflate MOAB, Smitty bilts, and VIAIR, but something that I have been seeing a lot is people getting the NAPA maxitrac compressor, and doing a minor DIY mod for the hose connector and making their own 4 way hose or even buying one.

    I calculated some costs and to get the best materials for a DIY 4 way deflate/inflate kit, it was around 130-140 bucks and to buy the kit online is around 220-230. Not much of a huge difference to me as I work a lot, so the time saved would be well worth it. But If I can make a quality product myself and save money, why not.

    Just want to get some thoughts and opinions on some solutions that some of you guys have done and if one route may outweigh another. Please let me know!

    I don't even off road but I carry the Makita 18V cordless whenever I tow the boat.

    Just in case a tire needs air I also have helper bags in the Tundra and did not get the onboard compressor add on.

    I have the ARB cmka12 as my portable compressor and that is in the wife’s van (had to use that a few times and was my primary until I upgraded). I still have it but in the 4Runner I have a 1 gallon air tank and an ARB ckmta12 (dual compressor). It runs my ARB lockers and fills up my tires.

    Do you think the upgrade would be that much more worth it for someone who isnt going to run it with lockers? I mean onboard is always a benefit and some more cargo space, but filling time would virtually be the same, right? Getting out of the car, grabbing the portable kit, clipping onto battery and inflating vs. what you might do is just grab your inflate/deflate hose and fill away?

    Just really think of the price point of the ARB dual portable vs some of these other brands that people back up. Like 75 percent cheaper, but you get what you pay for certainly.
