Potential Purchase of 2003 4Runner

I am looking at a 2003 4Runner right now and am new to buying this type of car. I have absolutely loved the 4Runners and had one as a first car years ago and decided to buy my own. What are some questions or things I should look at first off when looking/buying one of these cars aside from the usual cosmetic rust/cracking dash?

Check for frame rust

Check Carfax for accidents and maintenance

 

Make sure the maintenance is up to date and absolutely check for frame rust.

 

What is the location/region? I think that will determine some things to look for as well. As far as rust and other things.

 

Go through the obvious checklist for sure like rust, mileage, etc. but definitely try and hunt down a V8. I’m biased bc that’s what’s in my ‘03 but you really can’t go wrong with the 4.7 it’s a great engine and much like other Toyota engines if you take care of it will run forever. Please look under the car. Make sure there is no rust, or it's not covered up by a coating hiding it inside.
