What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Got in and noticed the mileage. Seemed momentous.

Added some Christmas light earlier today. Nothing to overly dramatic.

Electrical gremlins

 

2014 center display for my 19. It will fill the empty void at the clock and I’ll be able to use the conversion harness I bought years ago. Also got the newer rear panel for the center console and wiring. Now I just need the dual USB insert. Lastly got some TRD brah oil filters. They were discounted from this dealer so why not. They're nice.

 

Swapped out the stock Dunlops for Falken Wildpeak A/T3Ws. My wife commutes 50 miles each way to a 1300 acre construction site and I don’t trust the Dunlops when the weather starts getting bad.

 

What does it take to install this and get it working?

 

You’ll need the harness from Old Red. It’s plug and play minus one tap and inserting two pined wires into the harness at the back of the instrument cluster. Just make sure you get the right one for your vehicle and I believe it needs to be a TRD offroad or Trail only.

 

And it only works up to 2019.

 

I thought I read Old Red was working on it. Kinda lame for Toyota to ditch it.

 

I don't know if anything has changed, but I think he said it doesn't work reliably (yet).

Toyota probably figured it was redundant because the instrument cluster can display the same info and therefore cut costs by not including them anymore.

Got the dobinsons lift installed yesterday with some new shoes. Did a fender liner mod and some trimming this morning. Now just need to paint the RCI skids and bolt them on!

 

New wiper blades in.

Ironman 4x4 stage 4 Nitrogas 2.5" lift. Energy Suspension front bump stops. Apachee Offroad rear bump stop extensions. Took 12 hours but learned a ton and I'm very happy with how everything went together.

Offroam & Peak Designs magnetic charger because it's awesome.

Need alignment and install extended rear brake lines.

 

Dealership quit carrying these refills in my area. Where did you get them?

 

Toyota dealership here in Centennial CO. I just stopped by and bought them.
(Didn't order them in advance, since I assume they always have them in stock. If that's the case may be i should keep some in stock at my house)

 

I received a couple of things I ordered from Amazon:

An altimeter and barometer. The barometer is incidental (I live in eastern Washington up along the Cascade foothills-the prediction is "SNOW" for the next 2 months!). The altimeter is important so that I can tell if my breathing problems are from the altitude or my heart/lungs.

Liked it so much I got one for the wife's RAV4, which is an abomination behind the front seat!!

Once I get the guts to trudge through the snow and brave 18-degree weather, I'll install them.

Oh, I also bought some connectors and a length of threaded rod to extend my Hi-Lift mounts so that they will hold my traction mats on my rooftop carrier.

 

Replaced the winch hook with this

Better than paying up to $150 for a set on Amazon! Since I already had the clamps!

 

Installed labops dash mount plate, took few minutes to remove the headunit to plugin. Didn't use the included usb socket mount due to wanting usb-c, took little longer to install due to having to run dedicated power over rather tapping the cig lighter cable.

 

installed my Sherpa Equipment Crestone rack over the weekend

 

Towed with the 4runner for the first time ever. Just a short trip to the county dump with a big 4wheeled uhaul trailer. She did great! Wouldn't want to pull a trailer that heavy very long. Good times!

 

Did the same thing on my Ironman awning

 

Alignment done. Just need to install the extended rear brake lines. Yes, I do plan on upsizing the tires.
