i want to install a TRD intake system and would like to know if it will fit. Some post say it will fit perfectly but according to Toyota, they say it won't fit. Anyone installed this in their 2016 4Runner TRD PRO?

after some digging on t4r and toyota parts sites i can say with some confidence that the model intake you've posted will work with your '16

I've also read the same with minor modification, if any at all. Although you won't be paying for any performance upgrades, but a 'cooler noise'. I will most likely be guilty of the same in the near future.

Awesome and thanks for researching this. I would hate to purchase this and pay for the shipping to Hawaii and find out it won't fit. Thank you very much

I also like the look the TRD case looks under the hood. Hopefully it will get some kind of performance but I'll take the cool noise if anything. Thanks

[IMG] I put a Spectre CAI kit on my 2016 with a black filter. Only listed fitment through 2015 but fit perfectly. Also, called parts dept at local dealership to check if OEM intake part numbers were the same, they were. Spectre kit was only around $130 from Auto Anything after discount. Looks cool and sounds nasty when you get on it hard. Gas mileage did increase by 1-2 mpg. Power increase, maybe, maybe not, throttle response did seem better.
And I am sure someone will speak up about just pulling in hot air from the engine bay, blah, blah, blah. Its your truck do what you want.

looking at my 2016 T4R the air box as OEM assembled does appear to have too much air blocking filters. you say you gained 1-2 MPG on this ? what is the actual MPG when doing a hywy trip ? thanks.

Most of my driving is back roads, increased from 16.8ish to around 18.2ish. Sorry can't tell you much about highway mileage.

the reason I asked about a hywy trip was my guess these OEM air box filters/restrictions could effect MPG at 2K rpms like 65-70MPH driving . if a non OEM air filter/box is used and you gain 2 MPG @70MPH that would be a good reason to mod the air box.

18 plus on back road is pretty good. my guess a steady 70MPH you must get 20 MPG.

There was no problem with the installation and I love it!!!!. Seems like my engine runs a little smoother and sounds great when I open it up. I had my local Toyota dealer install it and they was very cool about installing it (charged me an arm and leg but I wanted to have it done right).

I also just put on some BFGoodrich tires 275/70/r17. Little rubbing when I full crank it reversing but other wise, it looks awesome and runs really quite and smooth.
