Code P0717 - Transmission Input Sensor

Hello,

i recently had a check engine code pop up which is P0717. Which means no signal from the transmission input speed sensor. I replaced the sensor and took it to the Toyota dealer and they said that all the wires look good so it is an internal error and the transmission needs to be replaced. Does anyone have any knowledge of this? Is there a way to replace what is causing the error and not the whole Tran?

So you took replaced the sensor then took it to the dealer because the code didn't clear?

Correct, so I took to dealer and they told me I need to replace my trans but all the transmission shops are saying it’s electrical and they can’t work on it.

Well I'd check if the sensor is getting voltage at the connector without the sensor.

If it is I'd try OEM sensor. Better than replacing a whole transmission and not needing to.

 

My voltiertet is reading .843 for both housings input and output. (Input is the one that is not sending signal)

 

I'm not sure what its supposed to be but based on it being the same I'm going to guess its ok.

Maybe you just got a bad sensor.

Since you got your part at what I consider to be a questionable source, why didn't you get it from Toyota? And maybe you should before shooting down a transmission.
