5th gen stock limited 20" tire sizes

Hello, was wondering if I could go to a bigger tire size on stock 5th limited 20" rims on stock suspension without any rub.
Current tires are 245/60/20
Want go to 275/60/20, anybody done this, searched but couldn't find anything on the 20"

The Limited wheels are 7” wide. 275 are too wide for that width rim. I know folks do it and I contemplated it myself but it’s not recommended. You may find some shops not willing to do it as well. I wanted better tire options myself and came across a set of takeoffs from the off-road premium model for cheap. Those rims are 7.5” wide x 17” tall with the same offset and back spacing as your oem 20” wheels giving you greater tire choices. I went with Falken Wildpeak AT3 in stock 265/70/17. Minor rub drivers side at full chock but 5 minutes with a heat gun to the inner fender liner took care of that. Just an idea.

 

Best advice imo.
With little trimming on the inner fender liner (no trimming to bumper) I was able to fit 285s with same TRD Offroad wheels. It was much easier than fitting 285s on my ORP. So fitting 265 should not be a big deal at all.

 

I bought my limited with 275/55/20s on it. Works pretty much fine. Just a tiny bit of rubbing, but only in reverse, full turn, with articulation. Maybe the extra 5% would be significant but I doubt it. I just lifted it and tore out my fender liners in preparation for bigger tires. Since then there's been no rubbing but I'm sure that will return with the bigger tires.

In line with what 2018 limited said: They do look kind of squished with the sidewalls being pushed in so much. Common for people to ask if my tire pressure is low, and even second guess it myself.

 

I have 275 on my 20", shop had no issue to put them on. I like the look. I am rubbing like crazy, will have to take out my 1" spacers or to the mod to get the liner tucked in more forward.

 

I ditched the 20 wheels, the look was not my style. Like you, when it came time for new tires, I was disappointed with the lack of options.

if you want to go off road it might be time to buy a nice aftermarket wheel that suits your needs. I ended up with a set of Rock Warriors and I loved them! The perfect aesthetic for the 4Runner. Point is that there’s tons of 17” options from mild to wild. Have fun sorting it out!
