I just found my invoice and I have the IMS 50701 rear shock with C59-505R springs.

    Are your springs standard weight?

My neighbor got his CAT stolen. I installed CAT guard from RCI to protect mine. It will take a lot of effort to steal mine. They would simply pass on it since it will not be a quick cut and go.

To install RCI cat shields you have to drill holes right? Wish I could install without having to remove the skid and drill holes. With RCIs poor fitment I hate to remove them.

Is that aluminum? Is that shield reinforced from bending it back towards the outside? I could see quickly defeating it if you could just slide small pry bar into the vent slits, and just lever it back in one quick motion.

It’s amazing to watch a thief work. A little bit of smarts and motivation, and things are gone faster than a non-thief could ever imagine.

I just loosen the 2 rear bolts from the front skid and removed the the 2 bolts on the transmission plate. It was not hard to remove. I did not have to remove the front skid or the transfer case plate. You do have to drill holes to install the the CAT guards. It took me 30 min to install and well worth the peace of mind.

Yes, it could be possible if they can get pass the frame that is blocking it from brending all the way down enough to get the CAT out. The aluminum is thick and will take some muscles to bend. It is there to deter them from getting to it. It is not completely protected. They can just remove the 4 bolts and remove the plate. Also, my insurance covers any theft on my vehicle. So either way I am covered.

Most insurance companies cover this loss / theft also....They'll eat your deductible though.

I just figure if dont install a guard, it might be fun as hell to drive it for a while with no muffler & straight piped.... Just saying.

According the website the C59-325 is supposed to give 2.5" of lift for the 4Runner with no added weight in the rear.

Did an oil change; new Napa Gold air filter; new aluminum oil cap, added the Fumoto valve , grease u unjoints.
The last change was done at the dealer. I had to use a breaker bar on the two 12 mm bolts at the rear of the front skid plate. Crazy tight. Thank goodness they weren’t stripped.

I made up the brackets. First I compressed the bump stops in a vise, Took a measurent. Set them so I have 5" of up travel. I put the bump stops about 3" away from the axle. Honestly its a decent setup. When it now "bottoms out" its smooth and not jarring.

In the front i have wheelers superbumps. If you haven't watched the YouTube video on them do so. They cushion the front end. I love them I had these for a year now.

Even if your 100% stock. If you want to smooth out your ride id look into progressive style bumps.

Interior LED replacement bulbs from Caliraised with 15% discount (~$35). Replaced Map, vanity, dome, door, cargo, puddle lights. So bright! Still got bulbs for glove box and license plates. Glove box looks like it would be a pain to change and not sure I want to make my license plate clearer to read lol.PXL_20221118_000658786.jpg PXL_20221118_000545090.jpg

Swapped out an HID retrofit for the OEM LEDs. HIDs were better output, but I’m happy with how it turned out. Did the 9011 mod while I was at it, those things are amazing. I was able to find some of the Toshiba HIR bulbs. Took about 2 hours start to finish and 20 minutes of that was modifying one of the 9011 bulbs because I cut the tab wrong.

I’ll be putting up the HIDs and all the parts for sale soon.

If you break multiple plastic rivets while doing any work, here are the part numbers: 90467-07217 (smaller ones for the plastic cover above the radiator); 52161-02020 (bumper). Toyota wants $3 and $6 respectively for those rivets, each. You can find a big bag on Amazon for about $10. I ended buying a slightly different part number for the plastic cover, 07201, so hopefully they work.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
I installed seat jackers this morning. I'm going to go on an hour long drive in a little bit. I already tried sitting in the seat. It's going to take some getting used to as far as driving goes, but I can already feel some weight being taken off my butt and relayed to the backs of my thighs. Whether or not this is a good thing remains to be seen, but it was my butt that was bothering me and moving the force of the weight should at least help with that much.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
And then I drove with the seat jackers today. It was an experience. One thing I can say is that I felt absolutely no buttcheek pain when walking around after the drive. I only drove about 80 minutes each way, but I could see this being good for even longer drives. I just wish I could get this effect by lowering the rear seat mount instead of raising the front one up because I'd rather sit just a bit lower. My seat itself is already at the lowest setting.

After more than 20k miles the water tank heater rod dropped into the tank. Unknown to me, the rod was slowly melting the tank as the water level dropped in the tank. Concerned the tank would leak if I installed the rod at the lowest point I installed the rod at the highest point. Because I have no idea what I am doing, I never considered the portion of the rod outside the water level would heat up, and melt the tank. Duh! Still unaware, I patched the hole with JB WaterWeld to reinstall the rod at the highest point but also being lazy not wanting to remove the tank. The second time, still not knowing what I am doing, I reinstalled the rod with an aluminum grate on the inside and outside hoping it would diffuse the heat from the rod above the water level. However, and maybe preventing a disaster, I learned it is best for the rod to be immersed in the fluid to avoid the rod from being damaged from overheating. Thus, finally, I patched the top hole with the JB WaterWeld, keeping the aluminum grates in place for structure (in theory as I have no idea what I am doing), and reinstalled the rod at the lowest point possible where the water level would have to be below 20% to leave the rod exposed. Of course, as feared initially the bulkhead did leak when installed at the lowest point. After many attempts to fix it, a product used by plumbers on pipe threads called TruBlu (https://www.homedepot.com/p/RectorS...AOoFW2_558ZFqOiViRRoCF4IQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) did the job. No leaks after sitting outside for a week filled with water, heated, cooled off, then heated again, and dropped a few times (a bunch of times). Because TruBlu is also used for high-vibration environments, I took out the other fitting installed with Teflon tape and replaced the Teflon with TruBlu. Anyhow, fingers crossed.
