dash lights out

    upgraded suspension, large all terrain tires
    dash lights and shifter light out...exterior lights work..does anyone know what fuse
    controls them ?

    I believe it is the dome fuse that controls them. It is inside the engine compartment fuse box. The other culprit could be the rheostat.

    That rheostat is located left and below the steering column...

    Sounds similar to my problem. My dash lights and climate control panel lights are out. I can spin the rheostat and occasionally I can get the far right bulb on the climate control to come on and the shifter light works as it should. Completely baffled by this,I can do just about anything on vehicles but electrical stumps me.

    upgraded suspension, large all terrain tires
    the fuse that failed was..the first fuse in the 'box' the tail light. it kept blowing fuses...i traced wiring etc...and found the cause...wiring under the bumper, set up to hook up a trailer with stop lights, accidentally laid across the tail pipe...melted a tad, and was touching metal..removed it from tail pipe..taped it up with electrical tape..and problem went away...

    I had the same problem on my 01 runner it was the rheostat, dealer wanted $183.00 for a new one , i put a jumper wire in it , problem solved
